As the subject indicates, I have a question about hooking my computer up to my receiver. I have a stereo receiver that I would like to play all of my mp3's instead of my tinny little computer speakers.

My sound card (a Soundblaster AWE64) has a speaker out and a line out jack. Could I use both of those to run RCA cable to my receiver and split the left/right channels? Do I need to get an RCA splitter and run one jack from my soundcard to the left/right inputs of my receiver?

    Thanks for any info guys...

They make a little stereo cable that splits a headphone style jack into L/R RCA ends (used mainly for playing something like a diskman on a stereo). You can get one at radio shack, and might be able to get one at W/M. The drawback is that RCA cables all tend to be short, so you may have to go to a radio shack type place to get an extention if the back of your stereo isn't 3-6 feet from the back of your computer.

In theory either jack should work, but I've had better luck with the headphone jack. This will also let you adjust the volume from the computer.

    dc sports,
thanks for the info. I ended up going to R/S this afternoon and got the splitter. I had to get a pair of 8' headphone extension cords, but ah well. [IMG]

I got everything hooked up and working fine. Thanks again...
