check out this article, and people say big brother is bad here in the US: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6747011/ Mexico town bans indoor nudity Local officials uncertain how to enforce measureThe Associated Press Updated: 7:04 p.m. ET Dec. 22, 2004MEXICO CITY - There's a city in Mexico that's making it illegal for citizens to be naked — inside their own homes. Officials in the southeastern city of Villahermosa confirm that the city council has adopted a law banning indoor nudity. A council member who opposes the idea says he's not sure how it'll be enforced. But a councilwoman who supports it says she's confident that citizens who catch a glimpse of violators while walking past their windows will report them to police — even though the law also threatens jail for peeping Toms. She describes the law as "zero tolerance" for "a lack of morality."
Clever city council - learned a lesson from their neighbors north of the border and took it one step further: By pandering to lowest-common-denominator religiosity and proclaiming it as the one-and-only 'morality,' one can reap political capital in quantity, which is ever more important than quality in a democracy.
I generally agree that the law sounds silly. But I had a few roommates in college one summer who were sharing a sunroom and never put up any curtains. They'd have sex with the door open to the living room (unpleasant for me, believe me). One day the neighbor across the street came up to me and told me she had two little kids who could see right into that room and they never slept with any clothes on. I suppose you could tell her just to keep her own blinds closed but the apartments were rather close together, it was easy to see her point.
It's not enough that they steal our jobs, their stealing our hypocritical puritanism as well.. Darn those mexicans
there are many non religious people who like to control other people's behavior too. it's just people being high and mighty and thinking they know what's best for everyone.
Ouch... I had a similar problem with my sophmore roommate who I would frequently catch in action with his GF in our dorm room. Afterawhile he told me they really didn't mind if I was there, not participating of course. That didn't put me much at ease but at least they were fairly attractive.
i'm just out to get you, chump. it's not about others. it's about you. i will control your private behavior, if it's the last thing i do!!! i may be the biggest jesus freak on this board...and i think this is a ridiculous law. does that help?
I wish there was a law about people being a little more modest in locker rooms. Some people are just way to comfortable letting it all hang out for way to long.
Ugly people having sex. Sort of like watching the Anna Nicole Smith show. You don't want to watch, but some sick force keeps you watching. Train wreck syndrome I guess.
Nudity rocks, if your attractive and in shape... but seriously, stop nudity in the home...please...this is the most stupidest thing I've heard of...Its one thing if it were meant for brothels who exposed there activities to the public, but commen folk...
