A guy I used to work with told me about a guy in his neighborhood (somewhere in Northwest Houston) that would put his Christmas lights out in a unique fashion. I can only imagine that this guy finally gave in after significant prodding by his wife to "please put the lights out dear".:D

    Enjoy!!!

Would have been funnier if he spelled something.

Haha....I'll have to take a pic of my parent's lights tonight and post them up here. You old timers will get a kick out of it.

    Just a note.

One of the houses in Prestonwood outdid themselves this year.

They have 50 yellow ribbon cutouts in their yard, one for each state. Everything is lighted, each ribbon has a shadow of the state on it. Of course the Texas one is the biggest, in a tree, with a huge star around it.

If you live in Houston and never have been to Prestonwood to see Christmas lights, go check it out. Its worth a drive out to the NW side.

Actually, I think the fact that he didn't makes it even funnier. He put no thought whatsoever into it.

    Therein lies the joke.

I live on the NW side, but I know it can be a long drive for some people.

It IS the BEST side of Houston.

    Hilarious.

I took the family to Prestonwood a few days ago.

Christmas deco in the deed restrictions - Too funny. National Lampoon could have a field day with this idea.

If you posted a picture of those lights (at night) fully illuminated I might be impressed, but without an image whose to say those lights are even plugged in...

    Speaking of xmas lights...

Is there any place in Houston (besides Prestonwood, which I'll probably drag my family to see when I go visit my parents over the holidays) that I can make a quick drive to in order to see some awesome xmas light displays in neighborhoods.

Keep in mind that I live at the Galleria and don't want to drive for an hour (which is probably how long it takes to get anywhere in this freakin' town!)

    boomboom...

Is there any way you can get the address of this "display" and post where it is? I work for a TV station and I'd love to get that on film to put in our Christmas day show!

I always roll thru River Oaks. Usually a lot of nice displays and not near as far as Prestonwood.

    HW 249 and Cypresswood.

Go East on Cypresswood from 249 for about a mile. It is a subdivision on your right. The subdivision is split into two sections.

Each street has a theme. You turn off of your headlights and only run your parking lights. Everybody just lines up and goes about 5 MPH through the subdivision in line after dark. There are also hayrides if you want to do that as well.

It is actually in the deed restrictions to put up lights and participate. I think they have been doing it since like 1972. They are somewhat nationally famous for doing it. If you have never seen it, it is probably worth coming out to the NW side to see it. Kids really dig it.
