The Rockets have struggled badly, but with a win against Charlotte they can get right into the playoff mix. 13-13 If they can start playing better more consistently they have several teams in striking distance. In the loss column here's how the current seeds stand: seed Losses 5. Dallas 9 6. Minn 9 7. LA 11 8. Denver 12 Portland and Clipps have 12 losses 13 losses is tough but the gap is not that bad. Rockets need to get going and win a few of the tough games that got away in Nov. and Dec. (like the loss to the Knicks on a miracle 3, the loss to Atlanta after they dominated the game, the loss to Dallas and Charlotte in OT) Rockets need to string some wins together and steal some road wins.
wow - a semi-positive post... I love it ! ...I wonder how long before someone ruins it with a "Fire JVG" post
BTW - better hit Feb. with a good record- Sun 26 L.A. Clippers Tue 28 @ Milwaukee Wed 29 @ Cleveland Fri 31 Milwaukee January- Sun 2 Utah Wed 5 Phoenix Fri 7 @ L.A. Lakers Sun 9 @ Denver Wed 12 @ Dallas Thu 13 New Jersey Sat 15 San Antonio Mon 17 @ Memphis Tue 18 Indiana Thu 20 @ Orlando Fri 21 @ New York Mon 24 Orlando Wed 26 @ New Orleans Fri 28 Sacramento Sun 30 @ Miami Mon 31 @ Boston This is a difficult schedule- I think though they need to go12-8 over this stretch to stay close heading into Feb.
OK Fire JVG! That said the analysis is sound but I have a feeling that the top teams are going to start pulling away more in the second half. If this year holds like the recent years playing .500 ball might not get us into the playoffs.
Ok, this is it, I've been waiting to say this for about a week now. Tonight(or last game vs. Raptors) is the start of the dynasty that we had all anticipated. Thats right, im calling it. The turnaround. We set the expectation bar way too high for these guys. Every team needs a chance to gel, and it has finally happened. We still need one more player tho, and a few role players.
I agree with all the teams except for Dallas.....We got our buts handed to us both games against dallas!
I think that all in all most posters on this board are true Rocket fans and want the best for the team. That being said - I think that the fire JVG camp should really give the man some time. He has only been here for a little more than one season and this current squad is starting to run more and looks to be getting better. Tmac was out for a few games early on, and JVG tried some poor experiments with Mo T and Howard reversing roles (starter vs. bench) and yes they have lost 4 games at the very end by not being able to finish teams off but it takes chemistry, time and patience to prevent that from happening - They also won 2 games on a fluke (the Clips and the Spurs). I think that once this team gets back over 500 - it will find its heart and soul and start winning some games. I also disagree with the poster that says the good teams will start to pull away - the Spurs might pull away, but I think that if the shooters cool off, the Suns and Sonics may start dropping some games. I also think that the Wes tbeing very stacked will prevent any 1 team from distancing itself from the pack (since they will always have to play against each other). I
I hope so, but I'm not going to get all excited over a win against the Bobcats. Everytime we think the Rockets are going to explode after a win, they don't.
The truth. I do believe that the Rockets will play much better and win more than lose from here on out, but for some reason i feel it wont be enough for playoff berth Good teams aren't going to make the playoffs this year in the West.
