If Grizz continue to struggle, could Posey be available?

Posey's being outplayed by Battier, Miller, and Bonzi Wells (he's had some injury issues this year) and the Grizz just invested a ton of cash in Brian Cardinal. Memphis also has an up-and-coming athlete at the swing in Dahntay Jones. Maybe we could get him for a couple of draft picks (which, at this point, could be fairly high) and the TE.

If not, Lorenzen Wright would also be a good addition. He's not the strongest guy in the world and he's overpaid, but he's tough and rebounds well.

I guess it was a good thing we didn't sign Posey.

I'd like to get Mike Miller. He's a smart player and is a great shooter to spread the floor.

I think Posey's coming off an injury. We won't get him because he is exactly what we need....well, along with a point guard, but still, Jerry West won't trade him to us unless he got a big in return.

And Les won't want to pay for the same real estate twice.

I was one of those who screamed bloody murder when we let the Grizz snatch Posey away from us. However, rumors from the Memphis camp indicate that he came in out of shape and very, very high on himself, neither of which endeared him to Hubie Brown (now gone) and staff. That seems hard to believe, but then big contracts often make big heads. And, if true, now I'd rather have Battier or Mike Miller if either were available at a reasonable price.

Battier just signed a six year extension in the offseason, and Miller's being paid a lot as well (he's also a very poor defender). Battier, I think, would be even better than Posey, but the Grizz probably won't give him up.

I was glad they didn't match. That was too much money for too little return. Then last year he proved he was worth it. This year he is proving he is not. With the terrible numbers he's putting up this year, I can't see why we would want him.

The more I look back on the Posey situation the more I think it is apparent that we should have matched the Grizzlies offer. Personally, I was kind of on the fence at the time on what to do and perhaps leaning towards not resigning him. I think the Rockets didnt want to pay a role player around 6M/yr and I can see their point there. But in reality we really let an ASSET get away. We drafted KT and then traded him for Posey and then let Posey walk. So basically we let a 1st round pick leave for nothing.

Posey on this team right now would be very useful. For all the talk we have right now about rebounding and "energy" guys Posey would certainly help. And if nothing else, even though some might balk at Posey's 6M/yr contract, he still is a very tradable asset on the market today in my opinion so I dont feel his contract is that bad. After this season he has 2 years left on it.

He hasnt played well this year, but also he has been injured a lot which I think might be a reason why his play has been down.

A lot of players on the Grizz are playing poorly this year. Their chemistry is all out of whack. Gasol and Cardinal getting those big deals kind of through the team out of whack.

Miller is TMc's buddy (why is it T-Mac when McGrady is spelled without the 'a'?). Howard is Curry's buddy.

The Logo needs to get EC then swap the two buddies, Miller for ho-ho-ho-ward. OK everyone?

Well I said it then and say it now. JVG just made a whole bunch of errors. Posey was one. EG was two. Then instead of having to go after Ryan this year like he is the best hustler on earth, I would have stayed with Hawkins and Morris as cheap as they were. When JVG came in the crew bolded below was what he had or could have had. Take out Rice and put in JJ and you would be all set. This year move Pike for Motumbo, assuming that Cat is at PF and move Taylor.

    Rockets:Ming Griffin Posey Francis Mobley
    Cato Taylor Rice Moochie Paltkoski
    Badiane Morris Nachbar Hawkins[B/]

Instead there in Padg, Spoon, and MoT to lead the rebounding parade. And Posey, Hawkins and Griffin are gone. Give me a break.

Don't forget. We could have had Gooden as opposed to Juwon Howard and Zaza Pachulia instead of Reece Gaines. (True, I stupidly was happy to get Gaines over Pachulia, but, if you check the record, I was for getting Gooden instead of Howard.)

the magic wouldn't have made the trade if we demanded gooden...would've been very nice though.

He wasn't exactly a lottery pick. The trade was good at the time, and I do believe he got a richer contract than he may be worth. I'll swap Posey @ $6 for Jim Jackson @ $3 all over again. We ended up with a much more reliable guy. Less potential for big games, but far more consistent with good ones and far less likely for crummy ones.

As to the central question, Posey has been considered untouchable in most trades so far, including the Vince talks. West is apparently very high on him and would much rather move Bonzi "All I care about is the 15th and the 30th of the month" Wells.

There is an age issue between Posey and Jackson. Jackson's legs will break down and tire out come Feb and March. We would have been better off to sign Posey. That 6 mil does not seem bad compared to 5+mil for Spoon, 8+mil for Taylor, 6+mill for Howard, or the stupid $ spent on the Glen Rice contract.

You can twist this many ways -we were not wise to let Posey go.

Why? They traded Gooden immediately after the big trade.

Letting Posey go wasn't a smart move on the Rockets.
Francis/Mobley/Posey/EG/Yao would be a nice group to have right now, but thats a different story.

I doubt we have any pieces that the logo wants. Miller would be perfect here however, good shooter, good size, good buddy of TMac's.

I think the one player I would like from Memphis is Jayson Williams. The Grizz are very happy with Earl Watson (who we cut) and are looking at him to be their long-term PG. Jayson Williams has improved his game a lot, he can shoot and is a good passer, and has cut out the TOs.
