Will DaDa's wish happen? JVG to be fired?

With DaDa being pro-active in replacing JVG, I was wondering what everyone else thinks...

I can't see him being dismissed before the end of the season, nor should he be, barring a total collapse of the team or the team quiting on him.

He's going to finish the season, no question. I still think he gets more than 1 offseason to build the team the way he see's fit. Rudy T. had 4 lottery years in which to build his team, JVG will probably be given 2 offseasons to get the right pieces.

I dont see him getting fired unless what codell mentions happens...

but...Im not entirely sure he wouldnt quit if he gets too frustrated with the lack of intensity he seems to always be seeking.

Are you asking if we want it to happen or if it will happen? You ask both things.....

I think it should happen this summer, but I have my doubts that it will.

No, it won't happen. As bad as the team has looked, there has been enough improvement and change to see that it is going somwehere.

More importantly, there isn't anybody good out there to hire right now. We could get a better candidate in the offseason.

Once they have their thirty-first loss, an interim head coach might be a nice change of pace...

If we're going to fire JVG, why are we bother to pursuit him when Rudy was gone. CD is sticking with JVG and both him and Gundy's heads are on the block.

Van Gundy has this season to prove himself with TMac and Yao together, if it's not working, he's gone even if we make the playoff.

There's a difference between building with rookies and being handed multiple established stars to work with.

Umm, currently in every post he makes, it's always about JVG needing to be fired or all the blame on JVG. If you have noticed...

It's too early to give up on JVG.

    That's my opinion.

That's because DaDa is kind of one dimensional. He likes to find one problem and desperately cling to it to the exclusion of everything else.

Dramatization (since I haven't been blessed with the search function):
"Steve Francis is a cancer on this team! This team will not win until we we dump his sorry ass!

DD" <- Can't forget the requisite seal of approval. That's suppposed to make you think he knows what he's talking about.

There's no denying JVG's skill as a very good defense coach. He has never really proven that he is a capable offense coach.

Is it possible that what has made him a good defense coach has lead to his difficulties coaching the offense? Maybe his ability to create a mechanical , structured defense is the polar opposite of the offense that he would need (flowing, fast) with the likes of Stevie or TMac.

Anyway, my hope is that JVG would recignize this and bring in an assistant (like a Del Harris) to assist (in a major way) with the offense. But I would hate to give up the defense that we have; we should really try all solutions to a problem before starting over with a new coach and new system.

I am sure the owner will give Van Gundy til the end of the season.

You cannot compare Rudy's situation with this. Rudy tried to assemble veteran players around Hakeem for a final run- i. e. Barkley and Pippen.

The owner, Carroll Dawson, and Rudy made a youth rebuilding effort with the Steve Francis trade.

I wish we had hired Paul Silas, Don Chaney, Jim Lyman, or Del Harris.

At this point hopefully these players can dig deep within themselves to get some wins. If this team can make it to the playoffs, do not credit this coach - credit these players...

If this team does not make the playoffs --I would rather buy out CD's contract, buy out Van Gundy's contract, hire Steve Pattterson or John Gabriel as GM, and hire another coach.

I would rather have some ass clown like George Karl, a lunatic like Don Nelson, or a bore like Paul Westphal than Van Gundy.

This is easy for me to say - as it is Les Alexander's money, not mine it would cost to buy out these horrible contracts.

This is a bad situation that does not have a good projected outcome.

Flip these thoughts and look at Seattle and Phoenix. No one had any expectations of these teams and they are playing well. No one expected Nate McMillan or Mike D'Antonini to do this well, but they have done a quick turn - a -round with less than or equal to talent than we have...

Good stuff TBar, except I would keep CD. Some temporary personal issues aren't a surprise after pulling of a trade like that over the summer. They'll get fixed. CD is awesome.
