At this point I would say NO. The problems we have are things I am not sure will be corrected with the current personnel we have. I dont see Howard or Mo starting to become a rebounding PF.

Perhaps we will get out of our shooting slump and win a few more games than we expect but I still dont see us making it. :(

This season has been a disappointment. I expected there to be some bumps in the road and I know we still have to make some roster moves. But I expected the bumps to be related more to chemistry than to lack of heart and execution. And I have been disappointed in JVG's ability to adjust to his players versus asking the players to adjust to him.

You can thank CD for making us the oldest team in the league and you can thank JVG for failing to create any team chemistry with the players.

JVG is responsible for both of those. JVG chose the players.

Get rid of Yao. They need to get TMac some real help. They have to get some tough players who can run with TMac. TMac has proven he can lead a team to the playoffs and with some real help he can lead them to a championship. They have to get rid of Yao soon before his hype runs out and everyone realizes he sucks.

We're going to see these threads pop up once a week, aren't we?

If the playoffs started today, we'd be the 11th seed. The whole question is whether we can turn things up several notches and get above the Clips, Blazers, and Nugs/Lakers. To crack into the top six (Pho, SA, Sea, Sac, Min, Dal) would most likely require a season ending injury to a #1 guy on those teams (an injury to Webber, though, would likely guarantee a #1 seed for the Kings).

We are currently 11-13, and have a 2-8 record against winning teams. We have very clear flaws in our roster, which makes it difficult to say that we are significantly better than our record. We're currently having a tough time pulling ourselves to 0.500, despite having as fluffy a schedule as an NBA team could ever hope to see over the course of a month (25 days, 9 home, 1 @ Char, 15 off).

The Clippers appear to be falling into a slump, Utah has fallen off the face of the earth without AK47, and Portland is rumored to have a divided locker room (Randolph not being too popular among the older players) which is good news for us.

The bad news is that Denver is slowly finding itself after a rough start, and the LA Kobes are doing better than expected.

I'm a fan, but I'm not drinking the same Kool Aid as some unnamed board members. The chances of this team making the playoffs without a lightning bolt (such as the Drexler trade '95) charge are already slim and slipping away. If Yao continues to fade at the end of seasons, forget it.

    Very good post.

#1. Trade selfish Tmac for a couple of real good shooters to open floor for Yao.

#2 Ban the pathetic loser amed for life.

No the Rockets are not going to make the playoffs with the current roster playing up to their potential.

However if some of the supporting cast start playing over their head... say Lue or Sura start shooting lights out.

Yao starts holding on to the ball and scoring.

JJ goes on a 3 point binge for the next 4 months

    Howard rebounds and Taylor scores.

yes, we can make the playoffs with some surprise help for TMac.

But don't count on making them with this group.

I'm bored so I'm dignifying this studpidity with a response.

Hey instead of TMac, let's get Damon Jones and Steve Kerr. That's much better

Getting anybody who can knock down wide open 3s, better than Tmac's 29%, The Rockets will be much better team.

Keep your own judgement of stupidity, shame on you to insult people.

Although JVG chose the players, CD should put his foot down if he thinks they are not the right players. He is the GM after all!

but i guess Les and JVG both exerted influence on CD.
