am I the only one that notices that Yao gets pounded on every play, whethere he has the ball or not, and usually gets no call, and then gets tiny little bump fouls called on him on the other end??
I noticed it also...but Yao doesn't say anything (and if he does its very little and JVG just talks to himself. I will go on a limb and say that JVG doesn't have a Tech this season and as a team we have less than 5. The refs suck
Yao doesn't get the fouls early in the game from the refs because, when it gets down the stretch players foul him so often that players will get about 3 called on them in the end. The excuse is balancing out the fouls so superstars can make it to the 4th quater and fans get their money's worth.
What I was trying to say is that JVG needs to stand up for his players and show them its OK to yell at the refs, but he never does...
I think the league has an implicit agreement with Les that Yao gets all the calls at home while he gets hosed on the road.
Put me in the column that believes JVG needs, make that must, get in the face of a ref and take the T, if necessary, to show his guys GUY that he has their HIS back. I believe that even if he gets tossed 2-3 times in a week that attention will be brought lighting the way for them YAO to get calls.
Seriously..they push him shove him..it's some BS. People think Yao suck cuz they see him not doing crap..that's cuz he's getting fouled and held and assaulted. Really wtf Someone mention this on the next JVG show
In general your right but it seems that Yao in particular gets the benifit of the call at home but not on the road.
All good big men get pounded. Shaq would foul out the entire opposing team if you called every foul that's committed against him. But the Bobcats game was nuts... he was getting mugged - can't say I've seen it quite this bad.
And Shaq should technically be in foul trouble every night he plays with all his physical play down in the post too. That's why its really hard to ref him.
I was at the Bobcats game and would have to say that the fouls called on Yao were ridiculous. In fact, if I were to describe the whole game, I would say that the refs were ridiculous. This was one of the worst called games I have ever seen in the NBA. There were bad calls on both sides. The refs basically took the game away from the players and made it their own. If we had more vocal coach we probably would have her seen our coach ejected earlier in the game. Please JVG, get a tech some time for standing up for your players!!!
How many times did Yao get foul out from a BS call down the stretch, then we barely hang on to win or just collapse? Or an offensive foul become a blocking foul that's Yao's fourth foul and he has to play passively? People are allowed a free pass to beat Yao up from what I see. You're right, all big men get pounded, but most of them get their fair shares of calls. Shaq gets calls really often and go to the line alot, I will be really happy if Yao go to line as often as Shaq does.
