I'm just enjoying the UK-Louisville game for now. What a great atmosphere. I expect a pretty good game re: UT-WF, but I'd be surprised if a team as young as we are could beat a terrific team on the road this early in the year.
Actually, WF has been struggling so far this year so you might have a chance. I think their guards are way over-rated, but I guess we'll see in the end.
Rick Patino's teams always seem to out hustle their opponent, win or lose. He seems like an expert in motivation.
This game is awesome to watch. If you haven't been doing so, you should turn it on. Constant offense.
Yep, I don't think Kenton Paulino trying to take someone off the dribble is our best bet in that situation. But that's why you play games like this. It will make us a better team come March. A really great game, very enjoyable to watch.
In the wrong place on defense a lot of the time. He did hit a huge three in the 2nd half, but he definitely looked like a freshman getting his first road test against a Top Ten team, very up and down.
As someone who has seen Wake play almost every game the last two seasons with the same cast of characters (except for the changing of star players from Josh Howard one year to Chris Paul the next), let me assure you that the backcourt is anything but overrated. Chris Paul has the chance to be the next closest thing we've seen to John Stockton since his days at Gonzaga. He can hit the open man at will and has no problem sticking the jumper or mixing it up in the lane. He singlehandedly controls the pace of any game he is a part of. Gray is great complementary player who is usually deadeye from beyond the arc. Taron Downey is also an above average guard who sometimes is thrown in as part of a three guard rotation that forces the opposition into the oftentimes uncomfortable position of going small. If only Vytas could recover from the injury that took him out of a good portion of last season and return him into the dominating inside force (that went alongside Josh Howard's all-around game in 2002-03) they'd be a much stronger force. As it is the front court has to rely on the undisciplined and very foul prone E. Williams. Jamal Levy is a great defensive stopper, a tall, longer B. Bowen who can defense all five positions. Probably alot more info than anybody wanted, but how many times can I talk Wake hoops on here? BTW the horns are still my 2nd favorite team. Great game today...wouldn't mind a rematch in march.
I agree, Paul is an amazing talent. I just don't think he's as good as he is hyped. I don't feel he is the best point guard in the ACC, and certainly not the best player or scorer. He's a big part of their success, but I just don't feel he deserves all the hype he's gotten. Wake should have beat Texas by 10+ easily, playing an inferior team (according to polls) and playing at home. I said that it should be a close game because Wake has been struggling this year, and I was right. Nothing against Texas, but when a #5 seeded team plays a #12 at home, they should win by a bigger margin than 1. On the ACC matter, yes I know this is late, but Georgia Tech is overrated too.
Not that it matters, but if you are going to compare it to being seeded. Wake would have been a number 2 seed, and Texas a number 3 seed based upon their rankings of 5 and 12. Carry on. DD
