I have wondered what Boki could do at the PF spot.

He is 6'9" and has energy and effort. He plays well around the basket, is a pesking (but foul prone defender) and he has handles.

He would be posted up, but he would have to learn to play tougher. Neither Mo Tay or Howard are that great of defenders in the post anyway, they are both soft and don't jump.

Spoon is the only low post defender at the 4.

I think Boki is just as good a fit at the PF as Padgett.

Except Boki is quicker, faster, better in transition. A slasher, can shoot the 3 (maybe as good as Padgett)

Any way I am not sure what JVG sin Boki has committed, but I would like to see him slide over and play some power forward.

(I realize he is not a proto type, but sometimes this type move causes match up problems)

(I also know he can't guard Duncan and KG, but don't tell me we have another PF that can)

boki needs to worry about getting out of JVG's dog house before anything else.

i think i know whats going on here.....

JVG didn't want CD to pick up boki's option because he didn't think he was any good. then boki starts playing well. JVG sees that boki might spark interests from other teams and desides to put him on the IL intil those teams forget about him. then we can resign him for cheap this summer.

That analysis may be correct except for Boki playing well.

He played very well, he is the only one hitting 3pts consistently.

More than likely what is going on is that other teams have an interest in Boki and he is being put on IR to protect that interest.

Boki is one of our most valuable trade assets, so I would not be shocked to see him traded at some point.

Too bad, because I think he can play...but not for JV Baldy.

i think boki would do outstanding at the PF position, especially in the weak western conference. garnett, duncan, nowitzki, brand, boozer, gasol, webber...these dudes would get taken to SCHOOL by the mighty Boki. although, in the eastern conferece games he might have some trouble. god forbid, he might have to guard kwame or tractor or vinny baker...

I think Boki can grab more than 0 rebound in over 30 min of play... so he should qualify to be a pf on our team.

I also thought that we should give Boki minutes at the point... ala a Brent Berry. Against pressure and if he was having problems... Tmac or JJ could bring the ball. While smaller quicker point guards could get around him... his size and length would make up for that. He hustles on defense and our help defense is good enough that it wouldn't be a problem. Boki can run with the ball and he has shown the ability to hit the three. I would be worth a try.

A bit of thinking outside of the key...

i've actually had this thought too, but didn't want to provoke a fisherian flame war outside the d&d...Boki is the same body type as Nowitski, Gasol, Garnett, etc. he'd have trouble w/ amare and duncan, but then, who doesn't? it's not like Mo and J-Ho have done such a stellar job. as long as JVG is tinkering, he should let Boki out of never-never land and give him a shot. hell, start padgett and boki and alternate forward slots depending on the matchup.

    Guys,

JVG will never put Boki at PF, he does not have that sort of creative thinking.

I guess he can't see Gasol, Garnett, Nowitzki, etc etc... etc... all performing well and not being the prototypical PF.

Boki would not be a good defensive matchup on any PF but conversely he would be very hard to guard on the perimeter by the other teams PF as well.

Too much thought for Van Baldy....he is not capable of cognitive thought.

Funny thing is, I thought about the same thing the other day. Of course he's 30-50 pounds light, but a lot of the pfs play a perimeter game anyway. If he had more experience, he might be the nearest thing we have to someone who could guard Dirk.

Btw, when are we going to cut Reece Gaines and sign Lee Benson? He'd be a much better fit than Boki at the PF.

Is boki off the injured list yet? If not, when can he come off?

If JVG would think alittle out of the box, he should try Nachbar on Nowitzki defensively. Nowitzki kills the rockets when he drives to the basket, Boki is much quicker and longer than all the rocket 4's. It absolutely made zero sense in putting Boki on the IR, dog house or not he is shooting 47% from behind the line. What the hell is JVG trying to prove.

Well, for those that care. Prior to going on IR, Boki was disappointed with his playing time. Boki and his agent have since asked in private for a trade. The most likely destination is Atlanta...

I know I laughed earlier but I must confess that your logic is sound. If I am not mistaken, I believe you mean spot minutes at the 4 position right?

It could be doable. Boki seems a bit under sized in terms of strength though. A little more bulk on Boki will help. Vlad Radmanovich is no that taller than Boki but he plays for 4 as well as 3 for Seatle. So why can't a Boki albeit a bulked up Boki? Hey what do I know, I am just a fan; I will leave the heavy lifting for coaches.
