Yao Duncan Dirk Peja Nash Key bench players: AK47, Ginobili, Parker This team will have no problem with international teams. I guess they can also own the league on most occasions. They can beat a team with Shaq, KG, Amare, Tmac, and Kobe. Your thoughts?
He said that if HE WERE given the chance now, he would have chosen to play for Virgin Islands instead. That leaves room for me to put him on the team.
I'd take my chance against your lineup with this one: Shaq Amare KG Kobe LeBron Bench: JOneal, Ray Allen, DWade
Since this is U.S. versus International then I would put Duncan on the U.S. team. Duncan would probably repersent the U.S. Virgin Islands but since you just jumbling all international countries together, Duncan might want to rep the U.S. in this case but you never know...with that said I think we should omit him for now Shaq>Yao Amare<Dirk KG>Peja Kobe>Ginobili T-Mac>Nash The U.S. would be loaded on the bench with Ray Allan, LeBron, Wade etc. etc. I think the U.S. would win hands down
the key is that the international players are more than willing to defer to their teammates whereas kobe on the same team with Shaq and Tmac and Ray Allen, his best friends? uh.......
Anyone remember the original team we had set for the Olympics? The one with T-Mac? That team passed the ball extremly well and dominated... certain star players know how to operate well with other stars I'll put Kobe on the Bench Shaq Amare KG T-Mac LeBron happy?
the international players are getting better. But i think the top talent are still americans. garnett, O'neal, James, bryant. but because basketbal is a team game you never know, it wil depent on how good the team plays together.(like we saw in the olympics
that talent sounds better on paper. but i'm not certain they would play better together than a team like the one made the subject of this thread.
i do not know how the international team will play together. It is a team with alot of power inside and very good shooters. But like i said i do not know if they can play as a good team together. But that also counts for the american players. so there is no way of knowing. but the international players will have a very good shot. Do not get me wrong i think the internation players are great players. one thing that is funny is that most international players have a good shot.
Yao Duncan Dirk Peja Nash Key bench players: AK47, Ginobili, Parker That would be an AWESOME team, and better than ANY team the U.S. could court; not because of individual talent, which is close, but because of the intangibles and how well the players strongest skills compliment each other. As seen in this year's Olympics, individual skill is minimal in a team sport like basketball. Again, this team would be unstoppable.
jordan hakeem duncan shaq there's your last 13 titles before last year. individual skill is minimal? the US qualifying tournament team steamrolled their competition. this international team in this thread would be very good. very good. shaq, kobe, tmac, lebron, kg, amare, ray allen, etc would be better. y'all just don't understand the difference b/t throwing talent together when it's your C team vs throwing it together when it's your A team. our A team still owns the rest of the world. period.
Shaq>Yao KG=Duncan T-mac>Peja Kidd>Nash Amare=Dirk Coachhil>>>>Whoever he is Sounds closely equal,but if we give our team like 3 months to pratise,learning how to cooperate.No doubt,champion owners here.
That team could get kill by the zone, only Kobe and Ray can constantly hit mid-range and long-range jumpers. On the other hand, pretty much all the international players have sweet jump shooting skills. If you compare individual talents of last U.S. Olympic team with Argentina's national team, U.S. have upper hand match up on every position, but that didn't get them the medal. The fact is that U.S. players lack fundamental basketball skill and knowledge, sometime they solely rely on their talents and athleticism and it won't work any more with today's international players.
Amare=Dirk???? Let Amare play for JVG with Sura+Ward as his PG and he would be lucky to average 18 ppg. And if the international team plays a match up zone against your team, they can win a best of 7 series in 6. Under international rules, the international team takes the US team in 5.
no, some of the guys we sent over there lacked that. kg, kobe, tmac, lebron, ray allen, bibby, etc don't lack these skills. another thing that this team would do the US team couldn't is rebound like crazy. our team had duncan, marion, boozer, and odom as the big rebounders. and we led in rebounding i think, but shaq and kg would eat the international team alive on the glass even with duncan (since he'd only be able to hold off one). throw in j o'neal, amare, kobe, tmac, and lebron with their amazing athleticism and length and the glass would be ours to an extreme degree if they tried playing zones (that is a huge weakness of zones you know). y'all far undervalue guys who tore the argentina team a new one in the qualifying tournament final (up 30 by halftime). and that team didn't have kobe, shaq, or kg. obviously the internat'l team is better than any single national team, but the best american team would blow the team we sent out of the water.
The problem with an all-star type of a team is that eventually you have diminishing returns if the players don't mesh. Because the players you mentioned all need to be fed the ball to be effective. This is no problem in NBA competition, because they're the best players on their teams anyway. But what if you ask them to help set screens? Or cut to baskets? Or clear out the lane for another player? How well can they do that? International players in general are much better role players, in addition to being stars. Dirk and Peja are possibly the best catch and shoot players in the game. Duncan and Yao can both set up on the low post, the high post, or take jumpers when guards penetrate. Nash is simply the best passer in the game with Kidd's injury problems. That's why there's reason to believe the international team can mesh better.
We should have learned by now that the US can not win against international teams anymore..........cough
