I am shocked that many CF/BBall fans don't know coaches vote for reserves. DEKE has no chance even he finishes the 2nd in ballots. Don't waste your time.

Do we really need to go through this each year? ASG is not about who deserves or not, not about stats, not about record, not about "objective" expert opinion, it's ALL about porpularity. You can critisize players in your team all you want after a win or a lose, during or off season. But in ASG it is where you show your support to your team. If you can't even do that, still busy at arguing whether Yao deserves to start or not, please quit calling yourself a Rockets fan. Your "objectivity" is not wanted here.

Speaking "objectivity", I don't even understand what's the discussion was about. We don't have a Dream in West now, no Shaq either. What can you do? Yao is not aggressive, poor rebounder, etc. Well, that's all you have. of course you can still quit voting, quit watching ASG. That's just fine. But it's not fine calling yourself Rockets fan while being so negative on our players.

Totally agreed with you. No matter how you look at Yao, he is clearly the best center in the west, so he deserves to be an All Star. Stat wise or Popularity wise, Yao is an All-Star at Center.

    most popular center(all star)=best center(games)?

I kinda doubt it ,and we could see obviously that more and more teams are giving up putting the center at the most dominating role in the team.

Anyways,I'm shocked that T-mac exceeds Kobe to lead the Westerern guards.

How can that happen? I mean Kobe is always the hottest guard in the West right?T-mac has never beaten him up in the previous balloting.

PS: Shaq won the Internet part, and Yao ruled the paper one. What was the supposed to mean?LOL,we are just sick of O'neal.:) :) :)

For T-Mac vs Kobe: I think it could be due to the fact that T-Mac had that sick game against Spurs (and I am sure everyone that knows anything about basketball heard of it). I'm almost certain if you look on the voting ballots, you'll probably notice that he had a spike in votes after that game.

As for Yao: He is a good center, China voters generally don't like to vote for him because they are harsh in their judgement of their own countryman. They don't want him to disgrace them even in a game like that (that is why I am guessing why he lost last year in online voting).

I agree. There's something really cool about KNOWING you have the best ream and everyone else is thinking, "How the hell did the Houston Rockets win the championship??? They don't have anyone!"

I loved it when Sports Illustrated refused to put them on the cover when they beat the Knicks, but released a "limited edition" ONLY in Texas. They were so bitter.

I didn't vote for Yao because I wish he can take a good rest. Also I don't feel he is that entertaining enough for the All-star game.

Has anybody documented how big the China vote is. I'd like to see the NBA report votes by country.

Room4rentsf, even if Lebron James and Ben Wallace were listed as forwards Vince Carter will still be leading others save for Lebron. Even as it looks now, Lebron and Vince would be leading the East in the forwards position as it stands.

Vince is just a beneficiary of first impression. Many fans fell in love at first sight and stuck with it - interestingly that is how many marriages/civil unions are formed ;)

PS. For those not voted in as starters, you better be hot after January 2nd because unlike fans coaches go with the what-have-you-done-for-me-lately approach +/or team standing.
