I don't know why everyone has been so eager to get VG the axe all of a sudden. The PLAYERS have not been playing well. The guys stand there, making no effort to win. Aside from that, the Rockets don't have any depth. Who do we have off the bench that can light it up night-in and night-out? Is it VG's fault that he doesn't have enough talented players; enough talented role players? Now before you all go and throw a hissy-fit, keep in mind that CD is one responsible for personel decisions. That's not to say that VG doesn't have an influence or doesn't rally for certain players. But ultimately, it needs to fall on the head of CD. Give CD credit for making the T-Mac trade, but also give him blame for locking us up with bad contracts. We arn't able to make very productible trades because of our talent pool and contract situation. No one is willing to trade with us because we really don't have anything to offer them in return. And when we do have something to offer, you better believe a bad contract is involved in there somewhere. We're just now really feeling the burden of those bad contracts, as the only trades we can make are, essentially, one bad contract for another. I hear guys already rallying for the Zen-man. Enough already! Phil won't do any better because, like VG, he won't have the right mix of talented players. Nor will the Rockets be able to acquire those players until they're no longer burdened from horrible decisions of the past. Yes T-Mack/Yao appears to be the ideal situation, a situation that any coach would jump at the opportunity to coach. But after looking past the GLORIOUS "One's," looking far enough to see the mess that lies behind the two big men. . .well, they might think twice, thrice, or more times, before they conclude that the Houston is the place to run wild in the west.
Incorrect. The head coach is the one responsible for player-personnel (note the spelling) decisions in this organization.
Imo that's part of the problem. I can see the head coach having alot of input on personell decisions, but he shouldn't have controll of them. Also if Les is the one who hires the coaches and JVG picks the players then what the hell does CD do??? Imo our organization is set up wrong and that's part of the problem. We need a new GM who has final personell decisions, and who hires his own coach. Les needs to get a good GM/talent evaluator and get out of his way and let him do his job.
