You know I am, Bats. In the middle of finals now, but I'm going straight to the store at noon tomorrow to get the final ish.

At a certain point (around issue 4 or so), I guessed a hero had to be involved (although I'm sure there's a surprise still waiting). They all kept using each other's real names every time they spoke to each other -- "Clark" this and "Bruce" that. I think the ID Crisis is that they all know who each other are, and I wouldn't be surprised if the big change from the series is that they make all their identities secret from each other.

By the way, did you get JSA last week? Solid issue.

(Now get ready for a bunch of Marvel-lovers to hijack this thread. :)

I'm waiting for the TPB. The wait is killing me though. I didn't find out about the series until after it was already in full swing.

spiderman is NOT real. Batman is. Batman is traumatized as a child, gets training by Qui-Gon... I mean, Liam Neeson, and learns to fly using gadgets. Spiderman uses some "spidey-like" traits, which are cartoonish. Batman kicks any WEIRDO's ass.

I couldn't wait to read the thing anymore, so I downloaded the six released issues. I can't believe Elongated Man's wife was murdered. Well, I've got to get reading the next 5 issues. I can already tell why this thing is getting so much praise. It's amazingly well written.

funny...but doesn't change my point. i'm not concerned with the powers. you can write any powers in you want. you can write in any technology you want. they're all cartoonish at heart...all require a suspense of reality to believe. oddly, the only character i can think of whose powers actually distract from his story/character is superman. what's compelling about a super hero that can't be beat unless you have rocks from a distant planet?? the superhero with so few weaknesses and such dominant strength is not at all compelling to me.

i'm talking about character...about the nature of the people behind the mask. the only compelling characters i see from all of this are batman and spiderman.

maybe i've thought about this too much, because i feel really dorky having written this post.

Yep, it's incredible. the author, Brad Meltzer, is a bestselling mystery writer (i.e. novels).

Cool. I'm behind on other comics. Only go to the store when IDC comes out, so I'm just going to have to hope they still have GL 2 and the new JSA. No spoilers tomorrow, okay? Wait til night at least.

    Max:

This story would change your mind (Watchmen too). And if you're into the believable superhero stuff, Batman Begins is going to blow you away.

    Oski:

Good call. I don't know how anyone's waiting for the TPB on this one.

I think Batman could take Superman, simply because he'd find a hold of some kryptonite.

I see your point and Spidey is a very deep and awesome character but he is still an agumented human from a standpoint of a super hero.

Batman is a true human that relies upon human intelligence and guile. He does develop things through technology but still uses human abilities to win and beat the bad guys no matter what super powers they may have.

    I agree about Superman....

I seem to have forgotten that DC doesn't put out TPB the month after the last issue of a mini series is published like Marvel does. I feel kind of bad that I haven't paid for any of these comics. I'm definately going to pick up the last issue though and then I'll either search for the previous issues or their reprints or buy the TPB when it finally comes out.

When we've finished reading the last issue, we need to come back to this thread and discuss, big time.

    No doubt.

Bats -- let me know what you think of JSA, too. This new arc is off to an amazing start.

    How did you download them?

And where would I got to buy these in Houston? I want to take them to my brother in Scotland for Christmas. Can I find them here, or will I have to order online do you think?

There's a comic shop in the small strip center on the southeast corner of the 59/Shepherd intersection. Can't remember the name of it. Also a Bedrock City out Westheimer near Hilcroft. Also a Third Planet on the feeder of 59 South not far from Compaq Center. Hope that helps.

I used bit torrent. I went to www.isohunt.com and searched for "Identity Crisis" and there was a file that contained all 6 issues. Then I had to download a program that could read them.

Each issue is a .cbr file. I found a site which has a program that allows you to open these types of files and read them.

    The program is called CDisplay.
