ZO actually played some D. He averaged 3-4 blks a games. Yao will never average more than 1 blk a game. Zo was a monster when he was healthy and comparing him to a soft Yao is a disgrace to ZO's career and his accomplishments.

The silly dog is barking again.

You are a disgrace to all the rocket fans who love the game.

This is complete bS, TV will eventually stop paying to broadcast Yao unless the team starts winning. Only one thing in this league generates a solid revenue and that is WINNING. Eventually the "shine" will wear off of Yao, Iseriously doubt anyone outside of Houston really cares about watching him now, and we will be stuck paying a Max contract to a guy whose novelty has worn off. All of this is of course void if Yao suddenly turns into a dominating type player, I just don't see the type of athleticism there for him to do that.

Summer Song Giver and Amed in the same thread. Where is Jedi?

SSG, I suspect a large portion of this board is not from Houston, and will continue watching the Rockets for as long as Yao is here. You can make the point that Yao is a bust, but denying Yao's marketing powers is just silly. Globally, Yao's marketing power is larger than Tiger woods and Lebron combined.

I am not questioning his marketing power globally (China) what I am questioning is his marketibility nationally, I just don't see him as the type of player the typical NBA fan will ever care about watching play; but really who cares about this? I want Rocket's wins, money in Les' pockets or Stern's pockets mean jack shyte to me. I simply do not care, give me a player with zero marketibility but is a winner and plays a style of game that is condusive to his team being a champion and I will take the winning every time. AK47 is a prime example of this, last season there was no Boozer, no Okur just him and a bunch of no name guys and he lead them to a very respectable season yet outside of league fans noone knows who he is but he is a better player than Yao who is more valuable to the team he plays for.
