Aren't fickle fans the ones who give up and stop watching the games then come back when they start winning and then leave again when they start losing?
They said that there were in total about 75 people still watching the game, Houston fans, come on. Boston stuck behind the Red Sox's for 100 years of losing, and then they finally got paid off. How do you explain this one?
well .. . u have to understand at the end of the day . . we all want the rockets to win most just think firing JVg will ensure it happening more often Rocket River
We are fickle fans to the end. That is what we are known for here in Houston. We will never be the Cubs, Red Sox, or any other type of fan that will be there till the sound of the buzzer. The closes we come is the Texans. most fans stay till the end and that's cuase we haven't had Football in so long in Houston. We have way to many fans that just show up when the team is doing good and they start supporting the team. just look at the Astros this year. All of a sudden everyone wants to buy Astros gear and follow them when they are doing good. I was supporting them through crap and through the playoffs. i will always be proud to support them one way or another....that's how you tell the real fans from the fickle ones. The problem is that there are way more Fickle fans in Houston than True fans. We are a city that always asks "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY"
Everyones talking about the Cubs and Sox fans but I bet once the Sox start losing their fans don't show up anymore, they've won their championship. Plus none of those cities had to endure the futility Houston had to endure for the 40-50 years until the Rox won in 94
No those fans are die hard. I mean they have lost for 80 years and they keep coming out same with the Cubs fans..those guys are true fans. I had plenty of times before astros games here with the cubs that my bar was packed full of cubs fans and maybe 1 astros fan. They come out rain or shine.
I'm proud to be one of the 75 who never gave up. Seriously there were about 5,000 fans left in the building. Speaking as a die-hard Rockets fan, I realize fully how bandwagon Rockets fans are and it pisses me off. At the Spurs game I was hearing more sh*t talking about the Rockets from Rockets fans than I was the Spurs fans. I've come to accept it though and I will never quit on this team. The rewards are few and far between for getting ragged on daily by Rockets doubters and haters in Houston, but when something like Thursday night happens I know that I enjoy it so much more than the fickle fan would.
I'm sure there were alot of us still watching on TV when Padgett made the steal thats when I felt we still had a chance but then the foul again took those chances away. Then T-Mac hit that 4 point play and WE WERE IN!!! I'm not a fickle fan.
Well of course, Chicago is like twice the size of Houston in population and almost 3 times around the burbs. Your gonna find enough people to go to the games every night...trust me. Been there done that.
I don't think Houston fans are fickle at all. The Rox promoted a product that was supposed to be better than it is and people are upset. I think that is normal, not fickle behaviour. As far as people talking about other cities, for the most part Houston is not that different. I have been to the United Center in the 4th quarter of a blow out and the place was pretty empty as well. I went to a couple of Cubs games and bought tickets right behind first base at the box office. So let's not think that every other city just blindly follows teams no matter what. Same thing with Yankee Stadium. Unless it is a rivalry game, it is pretty easy to get tix day of game. I just think that it is not a Houston phenomenon for fans to get behind a team that is winning and kind of lose interest if things are going downhill. Even Utah had alot of empty seats in their latest home game as they are in the middle of a 7 game losing streak. With ticket prices the way they are, people are not going to spend money to watch their team lose. Hell, even people with season tix are not going to go to see a team that is underachieving. Something else has to be a part of the experience. Like Dallas and Phoenix, they have an exciting brand of basketball. So even of those teams are losing, it is fun to go. Rockets games are boring for the most part and have been that way for a few years now. Steve Nash talked about that in an interview. He said that the game needs to be entertaining for fans to be into it and show up. Rockets definitely do not agree with that.
Dude if the say, suns played like the rox, i can assure you they'll lose alot more fans then the current rox fan base. honestly u really have to be an Loyal fan to put up with the trash the rockets are pouring out. kudos to all houston fans who havent given up uptill now!!
I gave up on the Knicks when they traded Francis/Cat/Cato... It is hard to stop being a fan of the Rocke *cough* Knicks, since I've been a fan for so long, but when you sit down and actually watch them? Not too hard to change the channel. Houston Knicks trade McGrady back to Orlando Rockets for Francis/Cat/Cato, and everyone pretends that it was all just a bad dream.
At least in my case and I think most fans cases, we still enjoy watching them, but we want them to win so we complain about what they should do. Its not being fickle its wanting success for our team.
I hate SOF Please go back to Orlando forum and support them all you want. Here is the links below.... Orlando Magic Forum 1 Orlando Magic Forum 2
I am sure we do have quite a few fickle fans but then we do have some that have been watching the Rocks for years. In my case ever since Akeem graduated from Phi Slamma Jamma and went for his graduate work at Clutch City (yeah I am a fossil). I would think most fans would like to see the Rocks putting out consistent effort and have chances to win games. This year's team just is not there and the frustration generated by that is compounded by the fact that we have an all world player in T-Mac and a decent center in Yao. The team is mindnumbingly mediocre. I love the Rocks but that is the reality of the situation.
