Why is Eric Crouch the only ex-winner not wearing a coat or suit?

Oh yeah, one minute 'till the anouncement.

I'm in the middle of writing a 300 page technical report for work and I still spelled his name right.

    So there.

Crouch over Ken Dorsey was the biggest mistake ever. The Canes exposed him as a poor one-dimensional QB in the Rose Bowl.

that's because the canes were stupidly talented and were gonna punish whoever happened to show up at the rose bowl that year. he didn't seem too one dimesional to pass for 1500 and running for 1100 that year. not that i particularly like crouch, but he was good.

and at least the voters got the top spot right. didn't invite benson, but whatever.

any word on whether they're even gonna make peterson play next year before giving him the heisman? he finishes #2 ahead of his own better and more important teammate. damn. Texas shuts down white, AP runs wild, 12 points, a&m and ksu stop peterson, white goes to work, 30+ points. hmmmm.

Thank God that White did not win it again nor Peterson. Now if USC can beat OU, things might be alright. Doesn't excuse the fact that Auburn got majorly screwed out of playing for the title, but hey this is college football, so what can you do other than scream playoff until infinity?

Please enlighten me on how Auburn got screwed....Didn't they start out ranked in the 20's? They had to work their way up the ladder just like everyone else has had to do in the past. If USC loses and Auburn wins....we might see another co-champion this year.

That's the problem right there. Auburn was essentially punished for being ranked low at the beginning of the season, when no games had been played yet.

I know I will probably get crucified for saying this since this is Big 12 country, but the Southeastern Conference is annually the toughest conference in all of college football. Period.

If you come out of that conference undefeated, then dammit, you deserve to get a shot at playing for the NC.

Look, I don't even LIKE Auburn (I am a Georgia fan in addition to Miami) but I do respect them a lot for being 12-0 right now.

Plus it is what surrender said as well in Auburn starting the season ranked around #20. It is the only system in the major sports, college and professional, that rewards you for how you did the last season. It just pisses me off that college football has the system it has.

Add to the fact that I think OU is HIGHLY overrated and loved by the media (Stoops, White, and Peterson), then it angers me even more. They were lucky to beat A&M and Oklahoma State. Struggled mightily for the longest against Kansas State. Beat a Mack Brown Texas team (a team they own) only by a score of 12-0 and then played probably the worst opponent ever for a Big 12 Division representative in the Championship Game. I'm sorry but I just don't think they are that good, definitely not better than Auburn.

If they beat USC, I will be the first person on this board to say that I am wrong and congratulate them, though.

I don't understand how that works. If we'd waited until October to have the first poll, who do you think would be numbers 1 and 2? The same teams that are currently 1 and 2: USC and OU.

Auburn didn't do enough to pass USC or OU; that's why they're not in front of them now. I don't think the voters are looking at all three teams and saying, "I've had USC and OU in front of Auburn the whole year, so it has to stay that way."

The only way the low pre-season ranking comes into play is if an unbeaten team ends up behind a team that started 20 spots higher and used that cushion to stay in front even after losing a game.

The SEC is annually the toughest, but not this year. Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vandy and Kentucky are 4 of the worst BCS-conference teams in America. Alabama, USC, Arkansas and probably Florida would finish above only Baylor in the Big XII South.

They also played a great NC schedule : LA-Monroe didn't even have a winning record in the Sunbelt, LA Tech was .500 in the WAC, and The mighty Citadel was 3-7 with wins against powerhouses like Benedict, UT-Chattanooga and Western Carolina.

Was Auburn not lucky to beat LSU by 1? If Alabama had a quarterback worth anything they would've beaten Auburn.

But not if you come out of the Big XII undefeated?

Oh, and USC is the 3rd best team in the nation.
