yall thinking way too much into JJs play. He has done nothing to get this much criticism. Whether you see it or not he is a smart basketball player. His veteran leadership is exactly what we need on this team untill Tmac or Yao want to take full responsibilty as the leader. Tmac being the best player doesnt make him the leader untill he wants that title. JJ is our best 3rd option. What more do you want from him for what we are paying him?? He was a steal. I didnt see anyone complaining last year about him and he was the same player pretty much.

    Disregard "fakefan" :p

Anyways..we need Jimmy to shoot. I like Bowen and Padgett and Nachbar off the bench.

Sura and Barrett are doing good. I'd like to add Eddie House ..who would take away their playing time so never mind..well he would relieve Tmac and Jimmy and everyone..

Jimmy..I'd rather have him as a backup..with a younger athletic player at the 3...or like Mobley at the 2 and Tmac at the 3. That owuld be a dream..

I hope we can get someone like Swift or Wilcox or Nene at the 4

The reason that this team hasn't played well this year is simple: we don't have enough talent. JJ is a legit NBA player. We need him on this team. In fact, we need more real players on this team.

Good post. I dont understnad why people hate on JJ. He is clearly our 3td best player and outside of T-Mac our best 3 point shooter. He plays solid defense and does a good job helping out on the boards.

Like Jeff said without him no one scored more than 5 pts other than our big 2. We are getting vertually no offense from our point guards and power forwards. We need JJ's offense. witout him in the lineup it also allows defenses to leave Bowen wide open and double more on T-mac and Yao. With JJ in the lineup it stretches the defense out and gives T-mac and Yao more room to work with.

I would like to point out that Boki is actually our best 3 point shooter

People dislike Jackson (like me) because he thinks he's much better than he is.

People natural flock towards two types of players: (1) the stars and (2) the hustle players.

Jackson is neither, but thinks he's the former. When he first came to Houston, and I bet this is true of every stop he's made, he was great. He played hard, he showed veteran leadership, and he scored some good buckets for us.

Now, he's in a comfort zone. And the thing that alienated him everywhere else is rearing its ugly head: he overestimates his own ability.

Jim Jackson plays like he thinks he's the best player on the court. He doesn't defer to Yao or McGrady. At absolute most, they're his equals. And it hurts the team. Because no matter what he thinks, he's not as good as they are. And he's not close.

It sucks, because he could be a real asset to the team. Like he was the first half of last year. But he won't be, because he can't forget that he used to average 20 a game for Dallas 10 years ago.

JJ drives me crazy sometimes. He goes one on one and forces the issue way more than than his talent should allow. And he really makes some bad turnovers sometimes. In the Dallas game, Yao had decent position on the low block, and JJ had the opportunity to feed it down low, but instead he goes away from Yao and attempts this idiotic cross court pass that was easily intercepted by a Mav. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

The thing is, for this team JJ still provides something we desparately need. He can score, and he can make open jumpers (although he seems a lot streakier with his shot this year). With the rest of role players putting up 21 pts the other night, we need JJ in the worst way, warts and all. And by all accounts he is a leader on this team. Yao and T-mac have both shied away from the leadership mantle, so JJ is picking up the slack.

JJ is what we need right now. To me, he's a stop-gap player that's holding down the fort until we sign someone better, and until Yao and/or T-Mac learn to take control of this team.

Denver needs a shooting guard, we need a power foward...

Hou trades Jim Jackson and Juwan Howard

Den trades Veshon Lenard, Tskitisvilli, and Nene

    Trade accepted

Don't know if they would take Juwana, but it sure sound nice!

Yeah that's the sad part about it....for a year he tells him get your shot better do this and that..and he does it this year...the Rocket fans are happy to see him play, then only to be put on the IL....he really better be injured....

I think most of JJ's shots have been taken within the flow of the offense. Unfortunately, he is in a pretty bad shooting slump as of late. However, when he breaks out, you guys will see how important his experience will be to this team. I do agree that he should play fewer minutes and that Boki should back him up, and once he shoots himself out of that slump, we will be alright.

Some have been, but a good majority of them this year have been on a so called fast break where he just stops and pops before giving a chance to set the offense up or let anyone get back for the rebound.

last year he was more of a spot up shooter who got good looks on threes and took them. That's what i like his role to be. That shooter that comes around and is left open and makes the defense pay for collapsing on Yao or T-Mac.

If he is going to come down the court and pop a shot then i am not going to like it...or not even look to pass.

That is the difference with this year in my opinion.

some Rox fans argue that Jackson doesnt get that many TOs on a nightly basis (2 ish) which is true, BUT if you look at the way he plays, he shouldnt get ANY turnovers. He is not a creator, just needs to make SIMPLE passes and shoot when opened.

I like JJ, and he is the 3rd best scorer out of our starting 5.

No one is playing well right now....JJ has proven that he can play...why is everyone hating on one of our few proven players.

And, YES, I think Boki should be playing too....JVG has given up on him.

Good job JVG...you are really helping to develop a good young core team.

Once JVG leaves, this team will be 2 guys surrounded by has beens and never was...es.

I like JJ too but i don't think he has been playing in the system as much as he was last year.

I honestly think that he is just shooting a bit too early and a bit too much this year.

is there a slower sf in the league than JJ? He may be the only man to drop back and wait for the halfcourt than go in a 1 on 1 break situation. On second thought Sura is looking real slow out there too. All hell, the whole damn team besides MAc is slow!
