    BB

    6.8 ppg 2.5 apg 2.3 rpg 38.7 FG % 29.3 3-Pt %

in pop's doghouse, avg. 12 minutes in december. played only 9 minutes against houston.

    BS

    5.3 ppg 3.8 apg 6.2 rpg 32.4 FG % 9.1 3-Pt %

i think its fair to note that Sura wasn't even expected to be back until mid december. avg. 35 mpg.

this is only a small sample of the season, 1/4 for BB, and 6 games for BS, but its clear that sura has been the more effective player. we knew he couldnt shoot when we got him, but hes played good defense, brought rebounding that we've needed, and has pushed the ball.

brent barry has fallen into pop's doghouse, he is basically pulling a pike.

I'm really happy we didnt waste 20 mill over 5 years on barry. He's basically dead weight. The thing i like best about sura is his rebounding. I mean he averages more rebounds per game than MoT and Howard combined!!!!

Not only rebounding, but OFFENSIVE rebounding. I'm guessing he's leading the team in offensive rebounds after 6 games. 'Cause at least I've seen him get more offensive boards than I've seen anyone else.

BB chose to join Spurs because he wants a ring. If he wants to be a starter and more playing time, he would have beeen a rocket alreayd.

OK, but seriously. Why did BB sign with SAS and Why did SAS sign BB ? ?

He is getting nearly zero court time. Is that what both parties wanted and expected ?

In summary, that just a small sample of the ups and downs of the NBA. Brent Barry is too good a player to remain down though but I doubt if he culd be much effective after this next. SA Spurs may have to eat his contract late into in. I wish him the best - I have always like BB.

I love what Sura gives us - toughness, rebounds, heart and leadership.

you are comparing numbers for sura who has 4 times the amount of minutes and are practicaly identical with the exception of rebounds......BB is in the "dog house" but he is a goodplayer and will eventually prove that...not saying i dont like the x factor sura brings but comparing by the numbers thus far is not a fair comparison

Like lost_elephant said, Barry is basically pulling a Pike. Don't know if that would have happened if he signed with us (or if it will continue to happen with the Spurs), but it's a distinct possibility.

he was suppose to be the outside threat (a la Stephen Jackson) AND be the backup PG for Parker. But he is not a good defender (which is anti-POP) and when his shot is off he is usless.

Sura was brought in BECAUSE of his defense, attacking style on offense and his rebounding

... if he knocks down a couple of 3s and breaks 10 points its a bonus !

Barry will improve his shooting without question, but my concern was age. Why give a guy who is 33 a 4-year deal that will pay him something like $9 million his last season? Sura, while not close to the shooter Barry is, was a better deal.

I really, really wanted Barry.... I'd still love to get him personally (though I don't think he fills the biggest need right now and I fear Van Gundy would cripple him even worse). But he is slumping badly right now. He was hitting over 38% from three-point range for the season .... then boom, the bottom dropped out. Since then he is riding a 1-for-22 slump from long range.

If we can somehow acquire Barry, we'd have the best shooting IL in the NBA.

    CD, do whatever it takes.

Yeah, we know Sura was a good rebounder, from his great numbers last season. This guy can dump, from the fact he participated in the dunk contest before. He also has some techniques. I saw him really reached high and palmed the ball in the midair with one hand.

I love how sura knows he's not a great outside shooter so he rarely wastes possessions with worthless shots (minus late angainst SA)

Yeah a lot of people were yelling at him to shoot the ball but he was just playing within his game and knowing he doesn't have his shooting legs yet. So he played smart.

The last shot he took that was an airball was just desperation at that point....

Sura is a streaky shooter...if he gets hot he can he the 3 pretty well...maybe in time his shot might come around...but everything else has been good...i wanted to get barry in the offseason too but now i think we are better with sura....if Devin Brown and Udrich is playing ahead of him something is wrong

Speaking of former Rockets, in the Wolves win over the Kings, Eddie Griffin pumped in 18pts and 7 rebounds and was the Wolves 2nd leading scorer behind Garnett's monster 35pt, 18rb, 9ast game.
