Yeah I was there........ You see me lose the flip phone thing?!? Never go with the crowd, stick with your first instinct!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pugs
I was there...left early like a jerk....the best thing I saw was when Clutch the Bear made the guy with the Spurs jersey jump up and down blindfolded like a dope thinking he was in a jump rope contest.
I was there. Lexus Lounge suite and 4th row seat at mid-court. I did NOT and will never leave a game before the ending buzzer sounds. Pug I was one of the guys screaming at you to pick number two. Sorry 'bout that. Boo'ing I had never in my life been able to witness a spectacular finish until last night. I was screaming at the top of my lungs. I never boo'ed the Rockets - I thought that they played very hard and kept the score very close throughout the whole game. Toward the end, the Spurs pulled away a little. I might have boo'ed if it was a crappy team that we should be dominating, but hey - the Spurs are one of the best teams in the NBA. I won't boo the Rockets for putting up a hard fight and keeping the game close against 'em. Funny quote from Mo After the game, my buddies and I were shooting pool at the Lexus Lounge as fans were clearing out. Eventually, Sura walked through and I said "great game" to him. He smiled. Then later, Mo Tayler walked through and I said "Maurice! Great game man!" Mo: "Thanks" Me: "Hey how's Jimmy Jackson doing? Is he okay?" Mo: "He's okay - He's just old!" Everybody around burst into laughter [RANT] I will never understand why people leave early. You're not going to beat the traffic. And if you pay so much money to go to the game, wouldn't you want to milk it for every last drop of value you can get from it? I don't get it. [/RANT] -- droxford
I can only speak for myself but, the arena puts me to sleep. I am a diehard fan and I usually stay until the end of most games I attend (whether its the rockets, Astros, or anyone else I have had season tickets to.)...but every once in a while, it gets boring to the point that, since it only takes me 10-15 min to get home, I can catch the end on tv. Its not like the excitement of the arena begs you to stay and see what might happen. Granted, last nights finish was one for the books, but more often than not, if I leave early, I dont miss much. As for traffic, getting out of that assinine garage is a nightmare, but once you are out, its smooth sailing. Also, many times I will leave early because my kids will get tired too and they have school the next day...not to mention I have to get up for work.
Well I sit in the lower bowl near the benches, and you must have some superhuman voices b/c we didn't hear jack **** as far as "Fire Gundy" chat or ANYTHING like that w/ 2-3 minutes left. The players on the bench sure as hell weren't looking up and pointing at you or ANYTHING in the upper deck either. The upper deck IS pretty far away though, so I can see how your eyes might play tricks on you at that lofty distance... I also question how you possibly think that saying things like "pullling a Rockets & choking" or starting a chant about firing the coach could possibly help "your" team come back - or really do anything but demoralize them even further. That's for another thread though... Anyway, with 3 minutes left even I wanted to leave, I was demoralized b/c the game had been so close. The ONLY reason I stayed was because I was with a friend of mine who is a Spurs fan & he wanted to stay til the very end to watch his team. He was also joking that since he rarely gets to see his team live, he wouldn't mind it going to OT. You can imagine the fun I had shoving that little quote dopwn his throat when that 3 won it for us instead! It was nice to have so many people come down from the upper bowl in the last minute - those fans cheered more then than everyone in the club section out together had the whole game.
I was there with two of my boys and one of them wanted to leave at about the 45 sec mark. I convinced him to stay and we sat down just in time to see T-Mac hit the and 1 three. It was the best finish to a game I've ever seen. We were going nuts. I couldn't believe how many people left. They are kicking themselves now.
