JVG would be arrested for attempted murder if Antoine Walker was on this team. Please... no jack-up artists.

At least 'Toine can rebound and pass the ball.

He wouldn't be my first option, but I'd make that deal. He'd provide some much needed offense to this team. As for his D(or lack thereof), he isn't any worse than the misfits we currently have.

Our players are not so much the issue as the system you put them in. This was stated before and I don't remember who stated it: "the biggest difference between college coaches and pro coaches is that college coaches build systems that their current crop of players can succeed in while pro coaches demand that their players adapt to them."

The college coaches have it figured out.

Can we win with the players we have. YES, YES, YES.

Can we win with the current system we have? NO, NO, NO.

JVG is bringing in the same system he used in NY and it isn't working. The only reason it worked last year is because we had better players, more athletic players.

Rudy T at least was able to adapt his style of play to fit his players.

With TMac and Yao we should have the best 1-2 punch in the league outside of Wade and Shaq.

With MoTaylor we should have instant offense off of the bench (not starting!).

With Howard we should have a solid, all around PF. Not fancy but blue collar.

With JJ we have a consistant shooter and a good rebounder and a solid defender.

With Sura and Ward we have high energy, defensive minded points who can create and push the ball (Sura) or who play under control and can shoot (Ward).

In Boki and Padgett we have energy and solid shooting off of the bench.

In Bowen and Deke we have hustle and defense off of the bench.

WE HAVE A TEAM THAT CAN WIN GAMES.

We just need the coach who can find the system best suited to the solid players we have.

I can appreciate not wanting to trade for Antoine Walker; but he does bring a few qualities to the table that the coaching staff tried to obtain in the off-season.

    He can pass.

He can (and boy, does he ever try) to shoot the 3 from the "power" forward spot.

If we tried to trade Mo-zilla for Austin Croshere; if we told Mo to go ahead and shoot 3's..........why wouldn't they try to obtain Antoine Walker? He shoots the 3 (too often, yes) and can pass from the high post.

Unfortunately, I think Yao Ming is being utilized very poorly and should be passing from that high post spot (not at the 3 point line, mind you); but since JVG's head will remain ensconced in his (own) a**, that wouldn't be a problem.

Now, if you come up with a 3-way deal that sends Walker's expiring contract to a team that wants to yield a rebounding power forward (Kenny Thomas?), then, yes, by all means.

if we could get rid of Mo's or Howard's contract plus Spoons then i would certainly take on Walker, maybe he plays at the 3 and helps us a little with his 3pt shooting and passing, but still we wouldn't have to re-sign him so we could greatly help our cap situation.

    Trade Idea

How about we trade Tyron Lue and Juwan Howard for Antoine Walker from Atlanta? I am not sure the money matches but it makes sense from the rebounding and scoring need we have. He is a bit undisciplined but Van Gundy may be what he needs to realize his potential. He his a good passer and willing rebounder. What do you think?

right now, no team even want to play either Mo or Howard as their back up PF. I am hoping that these two get run over by a truck so that Rox can be relieved from the burden. Forgive me for wishing for such a thing, but you probably understand why I cannot help it.

Antoine is as soft as the Staypuff Marshmallow man. Overrated in IMO. Lets go after Stromile Swift.

Walker can just keep on moving.

We need a banger that can get rebounds and pass the ball.

All Walker does is put up perimeter shots - not a team player to me.

Man ... those saying 'no' ... what would Walker do worse than Mo and Juwan? I don't think you could trade Mo right now for a cup of spit unless that cup was signed to a 4-year, $42 million deal. I HIGHLY doubt you could trade him for such a big, expiring contract.

I'm guessing that Walker is going to have real value in late January and February, once certain teams have a better feel of where their teams are and what direction they want to head. If they want cap space, acquiring Walker could greatly help them.

I'd really like to know what CD is doing right now.

Clutch - can you enlighten me. Toine is a great asset for the Hawks because of his expiring contract, given that you think Toine is a good PF, how do we work a deal to trade Mo or Juwan or both to Atlanta for Toine. Your comments about Mo apply for Juwan as well.

ahh, finally a breath of fresh air. Toine is playing a HELL of alot better than our current 4's. I could shoot Mo the way he's playing right now.

    Gater,
ARE you serious?? If you honestly think we could package Taylor and a PROTECTED, yes PROTECTED 1st for Gadzerick, DESMOND MASON, and freaking REDD, you should have your head examined! If thats not the most Homer trade, then I don't know what is.

    Maybe we could, uhhh nevermind............

Walker is clearly better than Mo and Howard combined. Those two throw up air balls night in night out. How can you be worse than that?

I am not a fan of Walker at all. However I would trade for him in a HEARTBEAT because of his expiring contract! If we could lop off Taylor or Howard I would do backflips!

okay I like Walker..he's not that bad..he can dish it..and I don't think he would jack up shots..I don'tk now..

but lol it was funny..remember that game we lost to the Hawks..lol Antoine Walker was dancing haha like usual

I wish we could get Redd. I don't think Mo and a first rounder would be enough..Redd is close to All Star level i think...or was for a period of time.

I wouldn't midn Glenn Robinson..he's old..attitude problems? But he can score..no defense though..

Mo and Juwan are sucking. Padgett is good 3rd stringer. It'd be nice to keep Mo or Juwan as a backup..but one has to go..and we need to get a good power forward....Nene Wilcox..Chandler..something like that.
