I don't shop at Best Buy any more. I've heard of too many problems with them, and I've had my own difficulties with their customer service and sales. I go to Circuit City instead and haven't had any problems with them (but I know that some people have).

Thats the Best Buy I shop at! The west covina store is the closest to my house and my friend works there in the home audio dept. I should ask him if they did anything else there. I havent had any problems personally with that particular store, but that must suck big time for the guy who bought the monitor. At the same time, I can undestand the store stance because they probably get scams similar to this a lot.

Those of you angry at the thought of being called 'liars'....you do realize that, the reason so many of us have problems with returns like that, is because of our 'fellow customers'?

ON a daily basis plenty among us are trying to screw over companies with stupid schemes, lies, and flat out effort to find new ways of 'getting over' on a business.

Hell, I've seen stories on these boards of some of you who found a way to 'cheat' the system. ;) There are people out there who get off on that.

I'm not saying it's right that we all have to deal with it, or that it's 'morally wrong' to try and do so..... but the annoying things we have to deal with is many times a correlation of those people making it worse for the rest of us.

Guys; this is a scam by this guy. I don't know about y'all, but when I purchase something I open it when I get home.

I don't buy for a second that he got home, opened it, had to inspect it (ie: pull it out of the box), take a picture of it as "evidence", take it home afterwards and take another picture of the "damage" that was done to the box by Best Buy, etc.

If I opened that box at home and saw a piece of wood and a brick taped to it, I'm going back to that store PISSED! No way in hell I don't walk out with what I purchased.

This guy got caught in a scam, and won't let it die.

Excellent observation Fatty. The "damaged" box does look suspicious, doesn't it? It looks like it's been cut, not torn or even the glue quit working.

AND did you notice that the "first" picture of the monitor is labeled monitor2.jpg and it even has the "damage" in it? and the "second" picture, after the box was "damaged" is monitor1.jpg?

This happens more than any of you think. Best Buy has a HUGE problem with in-store/employee thefts. People buy crap all the time & open it only to have things like this happen.

Best Buy is horrible & I implore you all to boycott them, buy from their competitors, and read up on the Employee & Customer horror stories at this site:

Something similar happened to my husband at Best Buy too. He bought a PC video game and when we got home and he got ready to open it, the game was missing and inside the box was some paper back novel instead of the game we thought we had bought.

Read through the website Rockhead & I posted a link to before you all start calling the customers thieves & scammers.

You wouldn't believe the amount of employee theft that occurs at those stores....

I went to college with a dude who worked at Best Buy and I know he jacked his set of speakers from there, probably other things as well.

I would love to sue Best Buy if I were that guy and then subpoena all documents that they have concerning employee theft. That's a way to get your money back real quickly.

bleh, i was laughing at this thread yesterday

and today, i recieved my bank statement saying that i paid 24.95 to Sports illustrated. i was told that this was a free subscription for 12 issues at the register at best buy.

when i called their customer service, they first tried to play it off, that it was just miscommunication, and that i couldnt be reimbursed. i haggled some more, and then they said they would only charge me for the issues that ive been sent. still i argued, furious that they tried to dupe me, and finally got their supervisor on the line, who knew exactly what was happening, and for every question and rant i had, he had a well prepared company line answer to shoot back, but i wouldnt have it, and they finally gave me back my full refund, and even that will take 30-60 days. bleh, never again.

I bought NHL 2003 on PS2 at target and the game was not in the case. I found out when I got home and returned it a little while later. I explained to them what happened and they gave me a new copy no questions asked. Oddly enough this happened to me again at the same target with GTA Vice City only this time I opened the disc in the store. The salesman said this happens pretty frequently with video games.

I see some serious money-making potential here in a 110% pricematch.

I got that offer. Of course, I always forget to cancel after the 12th issue and get charged for another subscription, but this time, when I saw the charge on my online bank statement, I called up SI and refunded everything except the issue that had been sent past the 12 free issues.

I just paid up and cancelled my BMG service about a month ago. I swear, BMG is the devil. I have a few CD's that I know nothing about, but the good thing is I got a zeppelin and Pantera CD, and I bought out on the Beatles to get Aerosmith, Beastie Boys, Journey, and The Police.

Anywho, they called me up again last night to offer 5 cd's for the price of one. I asked him if this would be one of those "Featured selection-decline it or it's yours" things, and he tried to beat around the bush, but I finally got a yes from him, and then he hung up on me.

    Go figure.

I don't understand why everyone believes this guy. From all the sketchy-ass evidence he puts forth, I conclude he is a liar.
