You hit the nail on the head. Revisionist history sure is great isn't it? Maybe they weren't as boring as this version of the Rockets, but after Francis' sophomore season, the Rockets weren't exactly anyone's idea of "funball." Unless you liked watching one guy dribble for 23 seconds while the other 4 watched. The novelty of hoping they'de mature had worn off by then. I guess this backlash was expected though if Yao/Tracy failed and the Magic got off to a quick start. All of a sudden, everyone's longing for those "always fun, great Rockets" of yesterday. They never walked the ball up and chucked fallaways with hands in their faces. They never turned the ball over with the game on the line. Right.

Giving up EG was a big mistake. He is a dream PF for us. The kid had some problem. But you should not give him up for FREE... We lost SF and cat, but we got TMac. When Twolf picked up EG, I thought what the hell... That's losing talent to your opponent. Never happy about this.

i dont understand the big deal about the magic's winning, if the rockets were in the the east last year they would have been seeded pretty high. so why did any one expect after us sending over the guys that they wouldnt be doing great?

I disagree. A dream PF for us is Ben Wallace or Carlos Boozer (the stereotypical 'banger'). A big guy who can defend in the post 1-on-1 and get rebounds.

Griffin's 3 point shooting hot streak is nice, given our lack of shooting, and he is a decent rebounder, but his value as a defender mostly comes as a helper. We need somebody bigger, stronger & meaner to run the WC PF gauntlet. I hate to say it but a slightly younger Karl Malone's skill set would be ideal, even though he is satan.

Minnesota already has those aspects in Garnett so Griffin is a luxuray they can afford.

I'm happy for Cuttino. I miss him despite his erratic mistakes. But I think the trade for T-Mac will payoff in the long run.

every Orlando recap, every highlight, i want to cry.

    no seriously.

if its not a game winning offensive putback by Stevie, its an alley oop from cat to steve, alley oop from steve to cat, alley oop from steve to Cato. steve to cat for three.

what the crap were we thinking?

where do i go to tell the world i hated this trade ?

GO Cuttino. Guess I won't be trading him from my fantasy team. I have Yao on my team as well.

The Orlando Magic obviously look very similar to our old team except they have filled the holes that were missing from our team. They have a shot-blocking rebounding power forward that E.Griffin was supposed to be. Cato is well Cato, and the SF position has been filled more than nicely. They pretty much are our rockets with the fixes we've all been wanting pre-yao. It's good to see yet also hard to swallow. I'm still rooting for this team and I think they have a good chance to come out of the east if they keep improving their chemistry. They have a good defender/rebounder at the 4. A legit center relative to the other centers in this league. A stabilizing force in Hill and playmakers in francis and mobley.

Then look at their bench. Not the greatest of guys but more than serviceable bench.

    D. Stevenson backing up the SG
    Turkeyglue coming off the bench
Pat Garrity with his good shooting. Similar to Padgett
and Battie to backup center behind Cato

They do have some injuries to the team but they look pretty sound to me.

We'd better start gelling if we're gonna be meeting them in the finals :).

Yeah, I think it has much more to do with the fact that Grant Hill has been an absolute rock for them. His game just complements Cat and especially Steve's game so well.

Steve has been putting up 20, 6, 6 throughout his career until the defensive man of the year JVG came in. He didn't suddenly become good overnight. Steve was the ONLY one that stepped up in the playoffs almost averaging a triple double.

that has more to do with it than any other factor imo.....

Hill perfectly compliments their games, CAt and Steve can run wild while Grant provides the stabiliity.

I dont actually go out of my way to watch them, but I certainly wouldnt change the channel if I came across a Magic game, and Im always interested in how they are doing (more Cat than SF).

Its a real shame we couldnt have that lineup + Yao.....would theoretically be a interesting and dangerous lineup.

Talk about revisionist history. You forgot to mention that Francis missed half that season with migranes.

assist to turnover ratio blah blah blah, 24 second violations blah, blah, blah, blow 3 on 1s blah, blah, blah,

    12-6

on thing i hate is that there are 3 ex rockets in the top 11 of 3Point%
    Griffin
    Mobley
    piatowski
and our best 3point shooter is ont the injury list. and the other JJ is 37th on that list

i'm happy for cat. I hope he and stve have success in orlando. They are now one of my favorite teams.
but not close to the rockets
    Rockets.

So if the rockets would have done the trade with Clips and gotten Odom and drafted Amare with the 3 pick, we would be sitting pretty right now. Well hindsight is 20/20. I guess we could have traded sampson for jordan also.
