I'm just frustrated right now and needed to vent. Ok, I've just ordered a brand new $350.00 digital camera last friday, and the online tracker said it was sapposed to arrive yesterday but it was late and came today instead...well thats one problem. Here's where it pissed me off, the UPS guy left the camera at my door step while I was still at work. When I came home the box was soaking wet from the rain and I'm not sure if I should open the box to check if the camera was ok, b/c once you open it you could be held responsible\liable for the damge good. So I called UPS to tell them whats wrong, and have them return/exchange for me and the guy told me to open and check first to see if the camera was ok. I was like no way I'm doin that b/c i'm not sure if the company I ordered from would take back damage product from shipping. So I ask to talk to his supervisor b/c he wasn't giving in to what I had to say, and his boss politely said he would take care of the problem with the company and have it exchange/returned free of charge. So I have to wait another week for the new camera but this time I will pick it up at the facilities.

This happens to me lik 4 or 5 times already where they leave the product outside if they cant get a hold of you. Lucky for me it didn't get stolen or rained on. Why can't they simply post a note and have you pick it up if no one is available? More company need to rely on Fed-EX , they're so much better when it comes to security and honesty and all goods need to be signatured before handing it to customers. I think thats all I gotta say....

Fed-Ex ground doesn't require a signature either. They dropped off a Yamaha keyboard on my front door. The giant box had a nice pic on the outside so anyone driving by could see what was available for the taking. Plus it was a bday present for my son who saw it as we drove home.

That's weird...In Dallas, I had two packages via UPS and they didn't leave it on my doorstep...One was a BBQ utensil set and the other was crap from Hard Rock Cafe...They seem so inconsistent...

There are options for UPS to require a sig to leave it at your door, I have never had to sign for any FED-EX that I have got at my door... I am glad I dont I would never get any package if I had to sign for them.. Sorry to hear all that mess, hope it works out..

I've had UPS leave a box on my doorstep (DSL modem from the phone company).

I ordered a video card and Fed Ex said I wasn't home today (of course not, I was at work), but I called them up and told them to hold it for me at their facility instead of trying again tomorrow since I still wouldn't be home when they attempted another delivery.

I don't know if it's based upon the value of the product being sent or at the whim of the delivery person.

They left a bunch of my computer parts at my door, and d camera etc. But they sent the Video Card of mine back to the FedEx building, and then it was delivered the next day when I was home. Since I wasn't home when the guy came to drop it off the day before. It was nice of them to do that, that way I didn't have to drive to the building.

I had an issue with the US Postal Service once. They left a note saying they tried to deliver a package but no one was home, so they'd try again the next day OR I could go pick it up at the post office.

So I called them up and they said, "Let me give you a word of advice. Stop by here in 2 days. They'll try to deliver it tomorrow, and when that doesn't work, they'll just keep it here."

So I let a day pass. Then I went to the post office the next day. Surprise! It wasn't there. They took it out to try to deliver it. AGAIN. Yeah, I was a little bitter. So I said, "I'm gonna need to talk to a supervisor about this."

They escorted me to a back room. I told the guy my story and said, "I'm not gonna spend all my lunch breaks driving down here hoping you'll keep it this time." The supervisor said, "Okay, where do you work?" And that freaking afternoon he personally brought it right to me.

So now I'm friends with the USPS again.

I hate how they leave packages in front of doors. They do that all the time to me, and I also live in apartments.

UPS should leave it at your apartment office if you are not home. Are you sure UPS left it at your door, or you apartment office?

It's weird that they leave it at the door for houses, where anyone could see it or get to it (even if it's sitting under the overhang), but some shipping companies won't leave stuff at apartment offices. I had a company (can't remember its name - the one that's not FedEx, USPS, or UPS) try me three different times at different times of the day. Since my schedule wasn't the same every day, they managed to miss me every time. I had to go down there (not in a convenient place) and stand in a long line to pick it up. I don't know why they couldn't have either 1) left it at the apartment office, or 2) had me call a number to tell them when I'd like it delivered (or that they could drop it by the office).

You would think, after missing you the first time, they'd give you a note with the option to call them and schedule a dropoff. It would save them a lot of useless errands (or else having the thing sit out there for the taking).

UPS has no idea what is in the package. Its up to the company shipping the product whether they want to require a signature or not. If you want to complain, complain to the company that shipped it. There is a check box on the shipping form they can use that will let UPS know whether to leave if you are not there or not.

In my last neighborhood, I had a number of packages mysteriously dissappear off my doorstep. Since then i have always requested a signature on shipments.

I had tons of problems at my last address with UPS. The driver was a freaking loon. He refused to ring the bell or knock on the door...he just left things sitting at the doorstep. One time he left a gigantic crib in front of my door. If the shipper required a signature, he would just leave a note on the door that I could sign and leave out the next day...he never rang the bell, he just put the note on the door. When that happened, I totally went nuts. I could see and hear the UPS truck coming, so it got to a point where I'd stand by the door, I'd see him leave the notice and then start to walk off...then all of a sudden, I flung the door open and screamed at him. Then I called his boss. I never saw him again after that. His replacement was much better.

After that fiasco, I called UPS and had them put a notation on my delivery address that no package may be left at the door unattended...that someone inside the house must physically take possession of the item. They said that was no problem, and they never left a package again. When I moved about a year ago, I called them and made the same request...and they never leave a package unattended. I made the same request with FedEx, they were cool with it. The only one who said no was USPS, but I got to know my driver well and he leaves stuff on my back porch instead of out front.
