If in 2002 someone said Yao would be around 17 and 8 already nobody would have believed you. Barkley included. He's come a long way and he's only going to get better. It's always what have you done for me lately. But in Yao's case, he exceeded expectations and we crucify him for it. Give him until his 8th year before you judge him.

Thats how I felt. We kept on setting a diffrent expectation for him everytime he exceeded the previous expectation and at the same time we want him to fullfill those expecation so quicky, which ain't gonna happen. So he proved most of us wrong in his rookie season that he won't be the next Shawn Bradley and is considred a very good player and cause Barkley to kiss an ass, but thats not good enough so he has to be as good as Tim Duncan,Ewing and other superstars or else he will be a bust. Thats just being very picky considering most of us thought he would be a bust and now just in his 3rd year we expecting too much from him. Just let the kid develope at his own pace and I'm sure something great will happen to him.

these ESPN guys love stats more than anything - they would tell you that Brad Miller was better because he averages 3 assist compared to Yao's 1 ... nevermind that Yao sees 2-3 defenders EVERY time he touches the ball

all Mello does is jack up shots - if you shoot enough you WILL score 15 a game

8th year? Good lord, that’s a long time. It’s not like Yao is one of these raw players that are simply physical specimens with little fundamentals. Yao is already a fundamentally sound player. There’s really not much more Yao can learn that's going to drastically change him.

Carmelo is overrated. He is quite simply, the next Glenn Robinson in my opinion.

Yao is/should be a franchise player. Good luck building your franchise around the next Big Dawg.

It doesnt seem they are building a team around Melo they are just building a team of people that fit.

AMiller/ Nene/ MCamby were all there before Melo.

    Kmart fills in nicely.

Well, there's different ways at looking at the rankings. Yao Ming NEEDS to be surrounded by the right players in order to do well. If this happens, then maybe he'll have a better chance at winning the championship than everyone else. However, just looking at individual talent, those other guys will get their numbers regardless of the team they play for or the players they are surrounded with. Yao Ming will not.

If we have to start counting Asian game Titles, count me in, we have to do what we have to do. Stay true to Yao we will.

Yep, it does not matter that Brad Miller gets his ass handed on a plate to Yao every time these two play head to head. And yeah, Brad is better than Yao.

And next time you will tell me that Kathy Bates is a more attractive woman than Cameron Diaz.

OK, I admit this was a low, amed-esque blow. Apologies.

Anyway "future championships" projections are stupid and useless in my opinion for reasons I have stated in another thread.

Second, there's not a coach or GM in basketball, who would take Yao over LeBron at this point, even 80% of us rockets fans agreed with that in a poll in the NBA forum. So you can blab about championships all you want, but LeBron is getting it done as far as being great lately, not searching for excuses/answers.

Exibition games? Yao has to substatiate the moniker of "superstar" on the court, not from fan popularity. At this point, Yao is nothing more than a "good" player with potential; potential, that diminishes each year his game stagnates.

I would trade Yao for Lebron, Amare, and possibly Boozer.

    Not for Wade or Carmelo.
