Van Chancellor is pretty good commentator, like a Doug Collin, has knowledge of game and pretty funny
Det, IIRC, Van is from Mississippi , they have some strange accents in the deep South. and as much as it is a strange accent, and as much as ppl want to blow off his knowledge of the game cause he coaches WNBA, if you listen closely when he does actually say somethin serious, he knows his stuff....unfortunately, with the pace of the gmae, he doesnt always have time to explain much and ends up just making broad generalizations.
I'll back that up - though I do miss Calvin, having a coach like Van do the color is quite a luxury. Of course there are and have been other coaches doing color, Van is less polished and media savvy, so when there's a time when perhaps other, more famous coach/commentators would know when not to criticize or break down a certain play, Van will do it anyway, since it's all that he knows. I've actually learned some nice tidbits about basketball that I'd never even consider if it weren't for Van. Keep him! We've had Calvin long enough.
