What a joke, Cedric Benson left off the list. Jason White Matt Leinart Alex Smith Reggie Bush Adrian Peterson
That is what I thought. There is no QB on that list who is a great field general, Give it to the Peterson kid.
Absolutely ridiculous. This is the year where they need a lifetime achievement award because one of the best NCAA RBs of all-time will not even be in New York.
Aaron Rodgers from Cal would have been a good choice as well. Cedric sealed his fate with the OU game. Peterson had more yards in that one game than Ced has in his entire career against OU.
Whatever. A lot of heismans never make it in the pros. I expect Cedric may be more successful than all these guys. It's really unexplainable what they were thinking.
Benson's had an outstanding year and career, but taking this year alone, JJ Arrington's been as good or better than any other back in the country. He's also the only back in the nation w/ at least 100yds rushing in every game. Arrington: 264 rush, 1845 yds, 7.0avg, 14TDs Benson: 303 rush, 1764 yds, 5.8avg, 19TDs Peterson: 314 rush, 1843 yds, 5.9avg, 15TDs Reggie Bush is probably the most talented and electrifying back in the nation, but his numbers just don't stack up. The media hype helps him immensely.
Meanwhile, Jason White, who gets absolutely zero respect, has once again proven to be the top quarterback in college football this year. I predict White gets it over Leinart.
How can a QB get zero respect and win the Heisman? Hmmmm....Gotta say I don't believe that's possible.
Why does it matter if Benson gets to go to NY or not? I agree, he should be there over Bush, but it's not like either have a chance at even finishing in the top 2... Leinart wins it over White. Because of 2 games last year.
Auburn gets dicked over once again. No love for Jason Campbell or Carnell Williams? Also, it's a shame that defensive players don't get mentioned for the Heisman. Where's Derrick Johnson? Where's Erasmus James?
An amazing thing to me is that Reggie Bush and Alex Smith were teammates in High School here in San Diego at Helix High. I am a HS football official here in the area and talking to all the other officials, EVERYONE knew Reggie was going to be amazing, but I guess Alex Smith was constantly overlooked and none ever expected him to be THAT good. Amazing that 2 HS teammates could become Heisman finalists ... I do believe it is the first time that has happened.
Wow, that is amazing that they were on the same high school team. Vince Young and Courtney Lewis (A&M rb) were on the same team at Houston Madison, but clearly they are no where near where Smith and Bush are.
