4chuckie.. you have this issue wrong..

That's part of the whole reason he is doing things the way he is doing them... So that the president DOES have the say in who gets in etc.. he doesn't allow some athletic director to allow in just anyone he wants..

An example, one of the top 10 qbs in this coming years class actually wanted to committ to vanderbilt.. but we did not allow him in for academic reasons.. its structured that people can't just get in because they are athletes.. everything is combined under student life, and they have to meet some criteria like everyone else...

Gee is doing the exact opposite of what you say 4chuckie.. thats the whole point in what he is doing..

I'm sure much of his new policies are set in response to the problems he became aware of while at ohio state...

in the end he is responsible for everything.....

you honestly dont believe the chancellor has the say in who gets in it or not???? trust me.. he can fire anyone on that admissions staff he wants at anytime.. so if he sets certain standards.. they have no choice but to listen

Sorry about the triple post.. but I totally forgot something I should have been saying...

the important thing is the fact that.. even if maurice was a bad character guy.. he would absolutely not be getting hand outs from the coaching staff if he was here under gees control...

This is the same guy who hired a football coach who banned the football team from cussing.. he is very hands on with the coaches that are hired.. he would not be allowing people to work with him that would give maurice the hand outs..

you can't weed out every bad moral athlete that gets in.. but he sure can weed out them getting any assistance from the coaching staff in their cheating..

I shouldnt have said you were wrong.. just that I disagree with the notion that a university president can have no say...

the whole point of the changes was so the chancellor would have more say.. so that the athletic department didn't operate on their own...

With the changes.. Maurice situation would not happen..

Even if he did get into the school.. with the way the administartion oversees all of athletics now.. it would be very hard so have cheating going on in the department.. they are involved in the everyday workings of athletics and would notice these things...

its when the athletic department is allowed to operate on its own.. that things like that can get past the chancellor

So a President who you pay $500-600k a year you want looking over applications on who gets in?

Granted if he wants someone in or out it will happen but the President shouldn't be saying yes you're in or no you're out. There are far better uses for his time.

It would be similar if you said the leaders of the armed forces should be deciding if someone should be allowed in. It's not what they are there for. They are their to lead, just as college Presidents are there to lead.

    4chuckie..

I didn't say that.. he makes 850k a year so I want him to have the ultimate control in pretty much everything..

I didn't say he actualy had to look over them.. but he has a say...

As in.. he sets the criteira that they have to follow etc... he doesnt' actualy have to be looking at each one.. but can certainly set the criteria the staff follows...

he does however meet wtih athletes when they visit campus on trips

Oh, and I think there are few things more important than making sure only the right people get in...

I think that will depend on which college and major one choose wouldn't it?
