I disagree... every basketball player from junior high through college practices the fastbreak... it is the most instinctual play in basketball...

Most fastbreaks are not run by the point guard... a rebound turns into an outlet pass to whomever is on the wing and then the ball is pushed up the court. Many times.. it is the point guard on the wing who gets the outlet pass... but we aren't even making it to this point... we have to make the rebound and then outlet pass. Our problem... not enough rebounds... and I hardly ever see outlet passes.

Sorry, Clutch. I was wanting to focus on the lack of fast breaks this team does (or doesn't). Didn't know xixi's thread was similar to mine.

My boring thread was the Chron thread.

Am I the only one who doesn't mind a half court game? I love grind it out basketball game like how Detroit and San Antonio are doin. I think its fun watching a team putting up a high defensive pressure and slowing it down and than pull away at the end. For example, like the other night, the Pistons held the Mavs to 89pts which was well below their average and pull away in the 4th with a double digit victory. That is just pure domination and power right their. The only difference between those two teams and the Rockets are that those two are knocking down shots. I actually like JVG system, its just not working right and we need to try something different.

    P.J. BROWN

(on conversation with Yao in last 15 seconds of game) ”I scored a left-handed lay-up on him and he told me his coach was going to get on him tomorrow in practice for letting that happen.”

Anyone still thinking that Gundy's negative approach does not make his players "overthink"?

Yes, you are the only one.

Seriously, if we were a contender, it would be ok. However, we are one of the worse teams in the league.

Except San Antonio runs. Especially this year. I bet they even practice fast break drills as well. I just don't think our players can recognize when to breakk and when not to. True we have to use our guards to rebound but that doesn't mean our big men can't run the floor. Just look at duncan and malone and some of the other PF's in the league. If they see that a guard is getting the rebound they break, knowing that the men guarding them usually won't run the floor. Not only can howard and taylor not rebound, they don't run the floor the minute sura or mcgrady get the rebound. Though I blame that on the team not practicing fast breaks. If you don't practice it, then it doesn't become conditioned therefore you don't do it.

What's wrong with that? Any coach worth his salt ought to be on his players about allowing a layup like that. Yao needs to grow up. He sounds like a 15-year old.

Man, I felt like I was doing PBP for a preseason game last night. It was dead.

Xiki, you have summed up exactly how I feel about this team. I have been posting for months that the problems with this team go to the very top of the organization. The Rockets need a drastic overhaul in the very areas you listed but as long as Uncle Les is slumbering, I'm afraid that what you are seeing today is what you'll continue to get. It may well take something dramatic to occur like missing the playoffs before any meaningful changes get made.

There needs to be a change, a total regime change. The owner must stay, those are the rules, but any/all else must restore the sense of entertainment and the promise of the new dawn.

I conclude this will take a total ethic cleansing, PTP.

T-Mac and Andre Barret can be really good in fastbreaks.

Andre Barret quickly become my favorite Rockets besides Yao and T-Mac.
