Yeah, I know I'm probably one of the few fans here, but is anyone else going to this concert tonight? It looks like it sold out yesterday, which surprised me a little since Manson isn't all that popular anymore. I became a fan about 8 years ago in high school, and I still catch his show anytime they'rer in town. Even if you're not a big fan of his music, this band puts on one of the best shows I've ever seen. This will be my 7th time to see them, but my wife's first so she's pretty excited. Anybody else going?
Who's that hottie he went to some awards show with a few years ago...you know her...the one who wore the see-through dress...if she's there, wearing that dress, I'll consider.
That was Rose McGowen, who now stars on that WB 'Charmed' show with Alyssa Milano. But she and Manson broke up, so I doubt she'll be there. However, I think MM now dates that Playboy chick who dances in the giant Martini glass (or something like that).
I'm NOT a fan of his music, but I have a friend up north who went to a show up there a few weeks ago just to see the opening band. He's not a fan of MM either, but he stayed to see the show just because he paid for the ticket, so why not? He said the show was AMAZING. I'm just saying...
Marilyn Manson (aka Brian Warner) is NOT the guy from the Wonder Years. Next you're gonna tell me that you also believe he throws live chickens in the crowd at his concerts.
I'll be there of course - like I would miss this?! Marilyn puts on one hell of a show, he is a great showman this is my 2nd MM show
Enjoy. Not my cup of tea, but Verizon Wireless is, IMHO, the best small theatre setup in Houston* to watch a concert. The sightlines and sound are unbelievably good in that room. *Now that I think about it, it might be the only remaining small theatre setup in Houston that books concerts.
I'll respectfully disagree. I've never been a fan of his theatrics and music. At least he speaks semi-intelligently. I was dragged kicking and screaming to one of his concerts at verizon around fall/2000. It was loud, and boring. MM came out in a 20 foot robe on stilts. Very silly man. Come up with better music, and the jumping around like an idiot with stilts becomes much less necessary.
I've never been a fan, but does anyone else recall his appearance in "Bowling for Columbine"? Moore asked him what he would say to the Columbine shooters if he had the opportunity. Manson replied that he wouldn't say a thing...he would listen to what they had to say, since it was obvious that no one else did. Regardless of his music, the guy is thoughtful and intelligent.
He's a fairly smart guy, no doubt. I've always been a huge metalhead, and I thought his band had some potential when they released "Portrait of an American Family" back in like, 1776, but his music has steadily declined since. I've heard from friends that his shows are all-out, but the satanism schtick just wore thin, and his new "goth new wave" image is lame. Shock has a limited shelf life, and he's no longer scary. Hell, in 20 years he'll probably be considered as quaint and cuddly as Ozzy, who was similarly reviled in his heyday...
what a great show! I was middle floor, bout 10 feet back a pretty rough floor, but I've been in worse - I just wish people would get over the crowd surfing fad, it is highly annoying to have people crashing on your head from behind every 5 mins
I saw this guy talking on fat Michael Moore's Bowling for Columbine... he had no idea what he was talking about... yeah Bill Clinton used the columbine massacre to launch more bombs .... oh but he launched them before so .... Bill Clinton had the kids at Columbine killed so he could launch more bombs.... ... He had no ****ing clue what he was saying... Woody Guthrie ... social commentator Bob Dylan ... social commentator John Lennon ( sort of) social commentator Marilyn Manson... gimmicky provacateur.... I did like him in Party Monster though...
I saw that part in the movie and I also thought the same. This guy is an intelligent guy, but he is covered in make-up and doesnt make good music, in my opinion. I wouldnt pay to see him, but I would love to have a conversation with the guy.
haha no, but he rubbed them himself quite a bit just b/c you don't like or agree with his commentary, doesn't mean he doesn't have valid points in a lot of people's minds he speaks out in his songs about injustices and hyprocrisy he sees in religion and our social lives - how is this not social commentary? what is your definition ? it just seems to me that you don't like him so you dismiss him
My definition of THOUGHTFUL social commentary, which should be the only social commentary, is a well stated opinion that is backed up by fact or something more than just words... A real point behind what they say, or at least something close.... Making a video with the re-enactment of John F. Kennedy's assassination is not social commentary... and whatever "message" he had in the song was ruined by his needless attempt at shock...
