THE Dennis Miller will make a stop in the Hub City on Sept. 22nd. The event will be @ TX Tech's United Spirit Arena. IMO, its about time they got some good events in there. Elton John (1st United Spirit Arena Event) and the Dixie Chicks aren't high up on my list of things to see. Tech students are getting a price break and 1st crack at the tickets. By the time Miller gets to Lubbock he will have 3 regular season games under his belt, plus it will be getting close to Election time. Plenty of material for him to make fun of. http://www.unitedspiritarena.com/Events/concerts.htm Rob ------------------ visit my website @ http://home.icq.com/bayoucitybob/ 1999-2000 Sportscaster of the Year @ KTXT-FM, Lubbock
With Miller having three MNF games under his belt, he should have PLENTY of material--about himself. Anyone watched a game with Miller in the both? To me, it's one of those painful things to listen to where you feel embarassed for the person. At this point, I think it was a mistake to hire Miller. That could change with time, and hopefully it does. ------------------
Give the guy a chance to at least build his repertoire(or lack thereof). I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet. I hope it works because, if not, then what do we got...some lameass, mostly obvious commentary(barring any cool stats). I would rather have the old SNL football act saying "Da Bears" and "Ditka" all night long. Or be happy with just the sound of football. It's kind of funny in a sour sort of way to here him crack a joke in the booth and then you got two other serious football smoes sitting there thinking to themselves "... what was that spiel about? You trying to be funny or serious?". And, then....an awkward silence...until the next play resumes. ------------------
