I know it is a couple of weeks late, but my wife and I went to see this movie Sunday night and really enjoyed it. It was well written, exciting, and made you think. I give it 3 1/2 stars in a 4 star system. DD
Cage's movies have always been a hit or miss for me. Hit: The Rock Face Off Con Air Misses: Gone in Sixty Seconds Family Man Windtalkers Matchstick Man The preview of National Treasure tells me it's an Indiana Jones wanna-be just like Windtalkers was a Saving Private Ryan wanna-be. Please tell me I'm wrong.
I saw it over the weekend and really enjoyed it. I agree with DaDa's assessment. It was a clone of Indiana Jones but unlike most clones it wasn't totally cheesy or boring. It was an interesting concept and I enjoyed the way they tied in history into solving the riddles.
I thought it was an entertaining movie and also enjoyed it. Moonbus, you didn't like Matchstick Men. I thought it was one of his better movies.
I enjoyed the message it sent...it doesn't matter how much money or explosives you have, if you don't have the brain, none of that matters. Great popcorn flick!
Very good movie. The first I have been able to afford to go to in quite some time. A- because I didn't like the annoying sidekick Cage had.
I loved the movie as well ... Of course I've liked just about every Nicholas Cage movie including the ones on the peoples bad list. I especially liked Matchstick Men. The thing I didn't get was that a lot of critics were bashing this movie because it is just SOOO unbelievable and unrealistic. How many movies do you know that are truly realistic? Anyways ... Nearly every average person thats not a critic I've talked to has loved National Treasure.
I've heard it to be a Da Vinci Code ripoff... but since it will still be another two years before that movie comes out, its not a bad thing to fill the time with. I still can't wat for the Da Vinci movie, though. (Tom Hanks will be Langdon)
I cant wait for that movie either because it was such an awesome book. I just cant see Hanks as Langdon. Of course he will be good in it as he always is. Just not who I saw playing that character. I was thinking of maybe Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind. That kind of look.
Nic Cage is only ever as good as the script. I thought the Rock was pretty good, but I'll never forgive anyone involved in "Con Air." I wanted to fight that movie it insulted me so badly. Well, ok, I forgive Steve Buscemi.
Con Air was great. I loved that movie because of that furry bunnie rabbit alone. That and the line "You don't see that too often" when the car was hanging out side of the airplane by a rope. good stuff. I'm not a big Cage fan, but I think he puts in the effort, and I liked Peggy Sue got Married.
I can't believe y'all are talking about Nick Coppola movies with "Weekend in Las Vagas" Great Movie. Great Soundtrack.
