    I've been wondering . . . Why Memphis?
    I mean New Orleans and Louisville were lobbying
    hard for the Rockets. . .they seemed like
    better locations [well N.O. anyway]

    Memphis is the 5th best place for black Folx

    It's not New Orleans, but its a lot closer than Vancouver.

    why Memphis? Because Memphis will become what the NBA likes - a one professional franchise town like S.A., Sacto, SLC, Portland, Orlando.
    Also, the closest NBA town is 7 hrs away (Dallas or Atlanta), so the regional appeal for the team will include many surrounding states.
    oh...and a new $250 million downtown arena and $100 million arena naming rights from FedEx sure entices a struggling owner and his young franchise!

    So, I guess the people of Memphis won't be tossing vegetables at Steve...Heck, they'll probably give him a Standing Ovation for getting them an NBA team
