[Hou Chron] Foxsports Rockets game ratings are in the dumper

    Ratings woes
    So do you think FSN Southwest has buyer's remorse since shelling out big bucks to re-sign the Rockets?

    In their first seven games on FSN since the deal took effect, the Rockets averaged a ghastly 1.45 Nielsen rating. Games on KNWS (Channel 51) weren't much better, with a 2.1 average through three games.

    My guess is only hardcore Rockets fans are watching the games now. JVG is Foxsports' #1 enemy. Foxsports knows the Mavericks' game was an anomaly. JVG didn't want to look bad in front on Kenny, Charles, and the other TNT guys. Foxsports better tell Les they will put some perks in the contract if Les is canned.

    I think the 7-11 record (and the fact that no one pays attention until after the asll star break) is probably more of the reason for this.

    FSN doesn't care about early season ratings for the Rockets - they were about to lose the entire Houston market (Astros and Rockets)

    I meant JVG. JVG is probably the worst enemy of the NBA now.

    Can anyone imagine JVG coaching Lebron? NBA mighthave to go hitman on JVG.

    You're probably right about the early season, but I doubt the ratings are this low in other markets now. Foxsports SW also handles the Spurs and the Mavericks. I've gotta think those markets have better ratings than the Rockets. It didn't help that there was mass confusion as to what channel the Rockets would be on.

    We may not have any championships with Barkley,
    but we had sellouts on lots of good ratings.

    We need some personality on this team.

    The games are so poorly promoted that this news can't be a surprise. A lot of us die hard fans have a hard time figuring out what channel the game is on on any given night.

    Well....let's see. The Rockets suck right now. That would be the main reason for the crappy ratings, the only people watching are the true die hard fans. The games have been boring, and ugly, and big L's.

    Also, FSN didn't want to lose the Astros and Rockets.

    The Astros have been exciting as of latley, and they want to cash in on that. As for the Rockets, well having TMAC and Yao on the same team was promising, and still is. Maybe eventually it will pay out for them.

    Charles Barkley on the Rockets: "( Jeff Van Gundy) has got to let those guys play faster. He is (coaching) like when he had those sorry Knicks back in the day, (walking) the ball up and down the court. They can't play like that. ... A good coach, in my opinion, does not make his team adapt to him. A good coach adapts to the players he has." ...

    Maybe the ratings may be a little higher if they did not blackout Foxsports in Dallas when the Rockets are playing.

    that is true - since the Rocket games seemed to keep getting bumped from the main channel to the ALT Fox Sports channel (including the satellite TV debacle during the Kings game) that has probably not helped much either

    Doesn't Houston have something like the fewest cable or satellite subscribers than....(something else) ? Or does that not matter

    *ugly stupid basketball must die! hahaha

    we can thank our ugly style of play + our poor record.

    anyways the main reason the ratings are taking a dip is the lack of playing time for our star Boki!
