if you could trade Yao Ming to GUARANTEE a championship this year, but no more for the next 10 years (also guaranteed), would you do it?

or would you stick with yao and the rockets the way they are and the way they are going - to bank on getting more than 1 in the next ten years.

    what do you mean

it's 1 guaranteed championship NOW without Yao and no more in 10 years.

    or

lets see what happens with what we have.

How exactly would you guarantee either thing?

i'm going to take the popular vote and guarantee that it will happen. i don't want to give specifics on how i'm going to do this, because then other people might do this for other teams, but it will work.

We know what you're trying to ask...it's just kind of ridiculous, that's all.

    The question is misleading.

Guarantee a championship through a trade - unrealistic.
Stay with Yao and the Rockets - realistic.

This guy tried to put these two things together to make an illusion that Yao and championship are mutually exclusive. Are you basically want to draw a final conclusion that "without Yao, we can win a championship" or "Yao is our only obstacle to championship"?

If you wanna bash Yao, just go ahead. Starting this kind of thread is just meaningless.

    T-Mac or Championship now?
    JVG or Championship now?
    JJ or Championship now?
    Mo or Championship now?
    Howard or Championship now?
    blahblahblah...

Becasue Yao has so much trade value that he could get us
Shaq + KG + Duncan + Kobe and six man Dirk. :p

don't draw conclusions, i voted to stay with Yao. i think the future is bright.

but, lots of people are bashing, i was wondering if they wanted success now or were willing to stay for the future.

lots of people did vote now, even though it also hypothetically guarantees nothing in the immediate future.

i was just wondering what the price of success was to some people.

It's just a silly hypo. ANd the answer is yes. I'd trade the whole team for the Charlotte Bobcats if it guaranteed one title and ten lottery seasons.

One, the scenario isn't possible. Even if we had a megadeal on the table. If last year's 4 Hall-of-Fame squad couldn't cash in, no one can assume it's a given.

Two, a one-and-done mercenary team (Florida Marlins, Deion Sanders on the 49ers, etc) never really feels right. It's not the same as when things just come together.

Take the one championship. Yao will never win anything. He is way too soft to win.

would you like to trade in your civic for a porche now or would you rather keep your civic and get a porche later for a chamionship, but no more than less than ten years, but maybe at least once in the less than ten?

We've only gotten 2 porsches in 37 years of being in the league.

So I'd say one Porsche every 10 years is better than one every 18 years.

good lord....does no one understand what a HYPOTHETICAL scenario is?

he isnt saying that Yao will or wont lead us anywhere.....you guys imagine "Yao haters" coming out of the woodwork.

he is asking if most here prefer the quick and easy way or are you willing to wait for a good thing to happen?

it seems pretty basic to me...

with all the negativity and b****ing, it sure seems that most here have no patience to wait......so we present this poll to see if that is the prevailing sentiment.

and as far as my vote goes.....Im willing to wait and I have faith that our two stars will get us there...it just isnt happening this year..

I'd go the Florida Marlins route.
