Doesn't matter whether Brown gets fired or not, Crane will just hire another GM who won't be allowed to do their job properly and has to work with constants roadblocks from ownership. There are very few of the positions available so there will always be willing candidates, but if you were a hot assistant GM I don't know why you would be jumping to work under Crane now.
Every team in MLB selected someone over McGarnigle. But yeah...that's painful....also Stros took Jio Mier 3 picks before 25th pick Mike Trout
Like I've said, they've got probably close to 7.5 mil to spend, they can clear another 4.5 mil by trading Meyers. If they really want big money to spend then they can probably trade Javier. They probably can pay half of Walker's salary and that would give them around 40 mil to spend. That should be plenty of money to add Gausman/Lee/Nootbar. They would also be removing Arrighetti/Bluebaugh/Matthews etc... money from the books, so that would be another savings.
Crane makes his GM work within a budget and is willing to expand the budget if he feels the team has a chance to win a championship. What a GM cant do is make trades like the Burrows trade, or the Teng trade. Or sign Walker in FA. In short a GM who works for Crane needs to hit on about 80% of the deals he makes. Is this easy to do, no it isn't has it/can it be done? Of course it can be done.
Can we toss an underage girl in his hotel room and call the authorities? What, too much/or just too soon?
This is why WAR is broken. I'm sure some nerd out there is saying he deserves the MVP because of it as well.
