I get the feeling that out of 15,726 registered members here that ima is the only one that cares about this.:p :D

    Seriously, congratulations to your team!

Now if Division I-A would take a page from I-AA and institute a goddang playoff....

This is so sweet!!! I was at my wife's Christmas party all night and didn't find out until about one in the morning that they won. I had actually gotten an update from a friend (Sam grad) who said that Sam was losing so I pretty much prep'd myself for a defeat. I was shocked when I saw the score on ESPN. Unbelievable!!!

No way Man, I'm also a SHSU alum.

Ima - Where are the final games at? I doubt they'll be playing in Huntsville, but man that would be awesome. If they actually go all the way we might just need to head up there and celebrate, Jolly Fox style. :)

Unbelievable game...you just can't count out this offense.

Dustin Long was just magic on those last two drives down the field.

Note to Eastern Washington: get a better kicker, and practice kicking a little more often.

    :D

It was the damndest thing I've ever seen. We had no business winning that game. They were running through our defense like a sieve the entire game. They were converting every single 3rd down. If we held them, we would pick up a penalty and give them a first down anyway. They kicked our ASSES for 3 1/2 quarters.

Every time we cut the lead to 13, EWU would score again to put it back to 20. I thought they were just playing cat and mouse with us. I had some fellow Sam grads at my house watching the game and we were debating whether or not we should turn it off. The EWU players were living it up on the sidelines, talking to the cameras, waiving towels, high-fiving their fans. The announcers were talking about next weeks Montana/EWU matchup.

There was no sense of urgency on the 2nd to last drive. I kept thinking even if we score, EWU would just run out the clock and win by 6. When we didn't recover the onside kick, the game was pretty much over. I can't belive they tried to kick a FG!!! Their kicker has only made one FG all year long.....from 24 yards!! Even after we blocked it, we had 46 seconds and no timeouts to go 76 yards. Given the sorry clock management on the last drive, no way was that going to happen.

That last drive was very Elway-like. It reminded me of the Elway drive against the Oilers in the playoffs. Even when we got to the 7 yard line with 2 seconds left, I still didn't think it was going to happen. When we hit that slant route for the TD, we started yelling so loud I really can't believe my neighbors didn't call the police.

I love college football and I always pull for Texas teams. But there's really nothing like pulling for the school you actually graduated from. Especially in such a huge game like this. I have no voice this morning. :D

I've watched a lot of college football, in person and on tv, and some of the best times I've had/seen was watching I-AA games. It's sort of like a purer version of 1-A. The athletes aren't quite as good overall of course (though still very good, Walter Payton, Jerry Rice, etc) but there is less $$$ and therefore less accompanying corruption and such.

Oops, looked like I spoke too soon! I should have remembered that ROXRAN is an alumni of SHSU!

I agree with you as when MTSU (my alma mater aka Middle Tennessee State University) was in I-AA, they would make the playoffs about every year. I went to like 3 of their playoff games the years I was an undergrad but we never could get past Marshall it seemed or Eastern Kentucky (our bitter OVC rival), but the games were always fun to watch. It absolutely makes me sick how MTSU has whored itself to I-A for the bling bling. From what I have heard though, they are struggling so bad to get the fannies in the seats that they may be forced to go back down to I-AA where they belong.

I too am a SHSU alum; perhaps there are more of us then we may believe. I'll confess that I really didn't believe - but this so sweet! This is just such a feel good story...:D

It seems like I remember hearing something on the news about your school paying Big Boi from Outkast to do a concert right after the football game so they could boost the attendence and stay in DI-A. Funny. :)

I'm just hyped up because my school has applied to move up from D-II to D-IAA in football and D-I in everything else. I keep saying "Big Dance, here we come in 2O years!!"

Yeah, I've been to several games here that were very compelling, back when Darren Sharper was playing.

That's not really the greatest picture, and the atmosphere is fairly subdued but on a fall afternoon with nice weather it really is a great place to watch a game.

    Saturday, Dec. 11
    Sam Houston State (11-2) at Montana (11-2), 2 p.m. (ESPN2)

I had no idea it was on 51 Saturday night. My dad, who lives in Alexandria, LA, was watching and gave up after three quarters. He was as shocked and happy as I was (he and my mom have their Masters from Sam). While I seriously doubt I can make it to Montana and hopefully Chattanooga the following weekend, I'll definitely make sure to watch.

Count me in as another one. This is my senior year, and I'm a broadcasting major at SHSU that has called the play-by-play on the student radio station for every single home game.

As ima said, we had NO business winning this game, but that high-octane offense somehow pulled it out. Add that to the fact that we've punked Montana once already this year, and I like our chances on Saturday.

    Eat 'em up, Kats! 35-34!!!
