He'll be 23 in september. He's probably almost completely done growing. But stranger things have happened so ...

Bruce has none of Moochie’s skills. Moochie was just as good as Franchise on the iso sets, albeit 5 inches shorter. They didn’t have to run different sets when Franchise checked out. Which was of huge benefit to arguably the lowest iq team of all time.

I've always thought these very early second round picks have more value than the tail end of the first round. It's just a few picks later and you can usually get these guys on a contract for significantly less money, and the players have a lot more incentive to bust their asses. Nobody after pick 20 or so is a great bet to be productive, it's basically a crap shoot in the 20-40 range in general, and full-blown dumpster diving after that. Better to get the value contract if you can still get a guy you like and value highly in that range. So props to the front office for having a guy in mind, going and getting him, and for the early returns being solid. Let's hope it translates to the NBA level. So far they haven't found anybody in this range who's been very successful, but they have to get it right sometime, right?

I fully expect Bruce Almighty to score 30 ppg his rookie year and lead us to an NBA Cup Championship

Another franchise player. If we hang the jersey of every clutchfans franchise player at the toyota center, soon enough the arena will be running out of space.

I could see Thornton getting 10 ppg off the bench his rookie season if given about 15 mpg.

I know the summer league means very little. But right now Thornton looks like a guy who can play a few minutes off the bench, handle pressure, not make mistakes, and make winning plays. He would be a 10,11,12th man this season. The pathway to playing time is going to be difficult. If Fred is off on back to backs then that helps.

lol will you stop this. We are a guard needy team, he’s older, and he’s basically tailor-made for Ime. The dude is very likely going to get minutes, especially if FVV isn’t 100% or Smart gets hurt.

I don't see Ime putting up with someone that is that much of a liability on defense for long. Someone that has to be hid off ball even in Summer League is not someone that is going to thrive against actual NBA players.

Could he get minutes? Sure, but it shouldn't be more than garbage time unless the Rockets are trying to lose.

Meh. Opposing teams have averaged like 83 ppg against the Rockets despite Thornton playing 32+ minutes a night. His defense is fine.

For all the talk about his defense, Thornton is among Summer League leaders in steals. 3+ steals a game is ridiculous. Him and Sheppard may end up picking pockets everywhere.
