Anthony Ippolito does a pretty good Sylvester Stallone. I'm curious. Hoping it's accurate and not overly complimentary, but apparently Stallone had no involvement in this and didn't know it was happening until it was underway. Will open in limited release on November 13th ahead of a wide release on November 20th to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the original “Rocky,” which opened in cinemas on November 21st 1976.
I was interested until I learned Stallone was not involved and that they "dramatized" quite a bit. The actor looks to kill it as Rocky, at least.
Some dialogue: Sly: "I want to play 'Rocky'." Big Guy: "No!" Sly: "Yo...you gotta listen to what I'm sayin' here! I am Rocky you idiot!" Big Guy: "Nah...we're looking for a 'Raging Bull'-like De Niro character!" Sly: "One more time. Yo...I'm Rocko! I'm not going to give my script to you then!" Big Guy: "But, we had a deal on the script!" Sly: "Yo...I'm walking out the door!" Big Guy: "Come on back...let's talk some more!" Sly: "Like...I got to do this! It's the only way the movie works!" Big Guy: "Let me call somebody! Have a Coke!" Sly: "I don't want know ****ing Coke! I drink raw eggs! I'm Rocky!"
He's talking way too slowly, and his voice is too deep. His movements are robotic. Stallone/Rocky is more fluid, natural, and cool.
