I was about to post if anyone went to the show, but was trying to be sensitive to your misfortune. Will you be able to make the new date.
Yes. To the shark, how was traffic and parking? I haven’t been to Dickey’s Arena yet but it’s practically my back yard. I hear they designed it for concerts and sound first. where did you sit and how was the sound?
We got there about 5:50pm. Doors opened exactly at 6:30pm. We parked in the yellow lot. We parked right where they let you in so we could get out quick. They were supposed to start at 7:30 and actually started at 7:45pm. We were in the back but a friend actually had two tickets in the lower prom on the side. The sound was pretty good. Also the bathrooms weren't crowded at all during the show. Played from 7:45 to around 8:55. The Intermission was timed to be exactly 21 minutes and 12 seconds. Played until around 11pm. Lot of really good video tributes for Peart. Also Anika (the German drummer) was fantastic. We left right when Working Man ended and got out of the parking lot in 30 seconds. Few additional minutes we were on the freeway and headed back to the hotel.
Welp...my tour date in Fort Worth got rescheduled again from July 2 to July 13. Plus, Rush didn't play last night's Fort Worth show. Geddy is ill with bronchitis and laryngitis. Been advised to rest up. I don't think they have a concert until the two rescheduled shows for July 11 and July 13. I'm not sure where he is recovering but he may be in Fort Worth for the extended period. It's surreal to think Rush is living at a hotel maybe 20 miles away from me for a while. I'm sure they maybe went home but the stuff is still here. Who knows? AI said Rush had never rescheduled a specific city tour date twice before. Well...don't I feel special. I'm part of Rush history now. Copilot said the odds of this happening are best guess 1 in 2,500 to 1 in 10,000. This is wild. Get well soon, Geddy! Maybe play us a couple of extra songs for the reschedule count? We wanted to see you first in Fort Worth so we got first show tickets but got you way late last instead.
Honestly, one of the best Rush shows I've been to even without Neil. The visual spectacle was insane and totally worked. The intro video was great. Very creative. You can tell they spent a lot of time coming up with this show. The playing was totally on point. I loved how the low end was thumping and the drums were dominant in the mix. The only thing is the bass was oomphing so much that the venue was distorting the bass just a tad in my location. But, the mix and sound was great if just a bit too loud. Could have benefited from a small step down in volume as it was pretty loud. Early in the show someone held a sign up on Alex’s side from lower prom that said “Geddy ****ing Lee”. Geddy saw it and read it out loud while talking to us. Then, it was like what about Alex? Geddy said “Alex ****ing Lifeson” as a joke as Alex felt left out. lol. But, what a great night! They killed it and sounded 25 years younger. Anika was awesome and got a great crowd response when introduced. Crowd was pretty great and very loud at times. Some empty seats but good crowd overall. Only complaint is couldn't see their faces as too far away on lower prom on side but good overall vantage point. But, could see their facial expressions on the video screen. So much fun! Feel kind of sad today as may be last time to see them.
Thanks for the write up. 16 days till my show!!!!! If you don't mind me asking how much were your tix? You don't have to answer.
Around $380 per ticket I think. I was 3 or 4 aisles back on GED’s side. Great overall perspective from row 3 on side aisle but I wish I were closer. The uppermost level cheap seats were sold out.
