Haven’t watched a single second of the Rockets Summer League team, but according to the comments, this dude is short, slow, and can’t defend a single soul? He seriously can’t guard anyone? In Summer League?

Doesn't sound good for someone we traded up for. Short, FVV type that the NBA game feels difficult for. Felt like this was an Ime-driven move but he sounds bad at the Ime Udoka stuff.

He's FVV's height, Nix's weight, and has Sengun's lateral quickness.

He’s more of a Westbrook maybe an inch shorter. But a better shot and smarter decision making/bball IQ!!

He look like the PG equivalent of Joey Dorsey.

True, but he’s more intelligent than Joey Dorsey. He has a long way to go before becoming a rotational player.

Thornton looks pretty decent so far. But, the guy I wanted (Tyler Nickel) is doing exactly what I said he would do so far...be an absolute sniper.

I really hope people aren't over reacting to a summer league game. The guy is 22 years old probably playing against a bunch of 18-19 year old 1 and done prodigies. I'm glad our organization knows how to find role players but we can"t seem to draft a star to build around.

I was underwhelmed by what I saw in summer league. 6’5 wingspan is a lie I feel. He looks more like the Desmond Bane Mighty Mouse Body Type, but his arms are flabbier and his torso thicker. Honestly he could lose 15-20lbs of straight fat. It feels like his extreme college efficiency numbers were the product of playing Old Man Ball and being unmovable on the block against smaller guards. His only strong suit is his shooting, but just in 2026-2027 I think Aaron Holliday is the superior player, because I just don’t see his defense being strong with his below average lateral quickness. I hope he proves me wrong.

Even with his average lateral quickness he’s already better than Aaron Holiday based on his handles, passing, and IQ alone.

Aaron Holiday is the bar. It remains to be seen whether he can clear it, but the potential is there. Most promising aspect of Thornton's game imo is his ability to draw fouls. If he can do that at a high rate in the NBA and knock down his threes as well as Holiday does, he will be a good bench player

You're probably better than Aaron Holiday bro that's not a bar at all. Have to be way better than that

You are reacting to doomers everybody who wears a Rockets jersey sucks according to them.

In reality Thornton had 5 steals in a B2B and also had good position on defense. The previous game had 2 steals. He is so slow but here he is driving past defenders for a bucket.

Nah Holiday is closer to MJ than you are to Holiday.

Other than Scottie Barnes who nobody would have drafted at 2 and JDub who nobody would have drafted at 3 there hasnt been any star available for Rockets to draft.

Stone was able to draft Sengun at 16 and as a 23 yr old 2x all star he is the closest thing we have to a star RN

He's a second round pick. Most of these guys don't even cut it in the NBA. I've never been much of a fan of Holiday's game, but he is right on the edge of being an every game rotation player. If Thornton can clear that he's instantly better than most second round picks.
