Reed last year got significant minutes at PG, having never played PG in HS, college or NBA. No doubt the Rockets would have rather eased him into it.

Thornton arguably has better PG skills than Reed, after playing PG in four years of college. It is not a foregone conclusion that Reed is ahead of Thornton on the depth chart.
