in his last 5 games Mo has 21 rebounds, which includes the 10 that dropped in his lap versus the Kings
For those of you who can't do math, that means that our best power forward has averaged a little over 4 rebounds per game over the last 5 games. Four. Yes, our power forward.
I hear Chandler is on the block. However, they wanted to trade young talent for young talent. Guess, that kinda counts us out. But they definitely want to trade him.
Do you think we could get any of these guys for our No. 1 pick next summer, unprotected, plus the trade exception?
Yeah, I finally found the link... http://www.dailyherald.com/search/main_story.asp?intid=3832099 Curry in demand, but Bulls will likely wait on trade Daily Herald Reports Posted 11/29/2004 By Mike McGraw The Eddy Curry trade frenzy faded quickly. The Bulls aren't likely to pull off any deals until it gets closer to the Feb. 24 trade deadline. For now, teams are making lowball offers, seeing if they can make their own headaches disappear. Yes, that means Memphis' Bonzi Wells is still available. General manager John Paxson said last week he'd rather not read about so many trade rumors. But what can one expect to happen when Curry's agent phones a newspaper reporter to demand a trade for his client? Fans want to know what the Bulls could get in return. Actually, it's probably a tossup whether Curry or Tyson Chandler is the first of the Bulls' young big men to be traded, depending on who could bring more in return. The Bulls would hate to be in a position next summer where another team offers Curry or Chandler more money as a restricted free agent than the Bulls want to spend. It would be tough to lose either player without getting some sort of tall replacement. One NBA general manager said he thinks there are plenty of teams interested in Curry and Chandler but acknowledged that finding the right deal could be difficult. "You want to trade young for young," the general manager said. "The time you would trade a young guy for a veteran is when you think you're close to winning. "Big guys are so hard to find. Centers are so hard to find. To give up a young big guy and not get another young big guy in return would be tough to do." Of course, the Bulls have so many young players right now, an increase in age wouldn't be such a bad thing. Curry and Chandler are the only two players left on the Bulls' roster who were acquired by former GM Jerry Krause. It almost seems inevitable that one or both will be moved by February. "I think everybody in the league is intrigued by them," the GM added. "I think everybody likes all (the Bulls') guys. Obviously, Curry is up and down, but most people are interested in him. "It's kind of befuddling that they aren't able to put things together. Curry is an awfully good player." This general manager and others around the league see a logical target in Denver's singularly named power forward Nene. The 6-foot-11 native of Brazil could be considered expendable since the Nuggets gave power forward Kenyon Martin a maximum contract last summer. During an informal scrimmage before the start of training camp, Martin reportedly punched Nene in the face. Nene, 22, missed the early part of the season with a hamstring strain. He returned to play in three games and is averaging a modest 3.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.7 minutes. Last year, Nene averaged 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds. A league source confirmed that Denver has an interest in Bulls shooting guard Eric Piatkowski as a potential replacement for Voshon Lenard, who is out for the year with a torn Achilles' tendon. But the Nuggets aren't necessarily sold on Curry. If Denver decides that Nene no longer fits in, a logical trade could be Chandler and Piatkowski for Nene, Nikoloz Tskitishvili and Rodney White. Tskitishvili's contract is up and there's a good chance he won't stay with the Nuggets anyway. Against the Bulls on Nov. 19, the 7-footer from the Republic of Georgia was unimpressive. But there are other NBA teams hurting for big men. Philadelphia is starting 6-10 Marc Jackson at center, while Samuel Dalembert hasn't built on last year's promise. The Bulls probably would love to exchange Antonio Davis' two-year deal for Glenn Robinson's expiring contract, which could give the Bulls cap room next summer. Memphis is another obvious candidate. If the Grizzlies would move off Wells and consider trading Mike Miller or James Posey, it might work for the Bulls. Miller is a base-year player, which makes any deal difficult but not impossible Or the Bulls could try to join in on some kind of multiteam deal involving Toronto's Vince Carter. The Toronto Sun reported that the Raptors intend to trade Carter before the deadline
But do we have anything that Chicago wants? Right now we have a quality first round pick. But other than that, we dont have anything Chicago can use. It seems we would have to try to do a 3 team trade or something. I dont think Boki+1st rounder is going to get it done.
OT. ...Nene is the closest on this list to that type of player. still can't forget the third game in New York in '94, watching OT steal the ball and go the length of the court, taking off from just inside the free-throw line for a dunk that totally silenced the crowd. for me, It was that moment that showed NY what they were up against. Then Cassell dropped the bomb at the end of the game and all the air was sucked out of the garden...
21 boards in 31 minutes.... 11 of them offensive. OFFENSIVE. I'd be doing backflips if we could find a guy who could get 11 TOTAL boards in one game in 40 minutes. 3 blocks and 15 points as well. I have to think there is no way we could attain him at this point.
Clutch, when I saw the boxscore of that game I just knew you were going to post back in this thread. Yeah, 11 OFFENSIVE rebounds is ridiculous! I cant imagine how much of an impact that rebounding and extra shots would have on our team right now. You are right, there is just no way we are ever going to luck into any trades that get us anyone like Chandler, Wilcox etc. What is interesting about Chandler though, is he is now coming OFF the bench and doing this. It actually looks like he is more effective coming off the bench.
I think he is just kind of streaky. He had a stretch during last season when he would have a bunch of 20+ rebound games, then he would disappear again. That was when he was starting. Unfortunately, I think he is out of reach for us. P.J. Brown might be our best bet right now.
I would want Tyson Chandler. Great athlete, great energy, great rebounder at times. Seems like an excellent fit on the Rockets. His offense is as bad as it gets, but then we had that from Kelvin Cato for half a decade and people love him now. Chandler is the tallest among the PFs listed. Size always means something in this league.
Give up 2 first round picks and Boki. DD PS. Didn't EG have 20 rebounds against the suns off the bench.
DD, EG had 13pts and 11 rebounds last night as the Wolves beat the Clippers. Looking at EG's minutes, while he is coming off the bench, it is clear he is getting "starters minutes" for the Wolves, a team right there contending for a championship. I bet the Wolves were happy to pick up EG for a song and have him be such a contributor so far.
I have no idea if the Rockets have a shot at any of these guys. The Celtics (my team) don't, unless they trade one of their swingmen. A hypothetical trade scenario: Celtics trade Paul Pierce (the basketball equivalent of Nomar Garciaparra) and Walter McCarty Memphis trades Stromile Swift, James Posey and a first-round pick Man, I would do that in a second.
I think Memphis would consider that. But that deal can't happen as the Griz cant trade Swift since they gave him the 1 year tender offer.
