If you truly want what you typed in the last paragraph, then you should root for Cary to win his lawsuit and the NFL to force the McNair's to sell the team.

I get it. You are all sunshine and daisies.
You can choose to be the ever loving optimist that lives in a perfect fantasy world.

Facts are facts. Darnold has a better season on his resume than does CJ.
    That isn’t debatable.

Ultimately that wasn’t even the conversation. Houstontime has moved the goal post several times.
First, it was who has had a similar situation and performed well. Darnold did in 24, under the same circumstances as CJ in 24.

Then it was CJ has a better season on his resume, 23. But that’s not the case either.

Now it’s, but what if this, or what if that.

You and him are going off feelings and projections, based off of flashes from a season 3 years ago. Live in reality.
It’s fine to hope for the best. I’m a Texans fan, I want what’s best for the entire team, not just the current QB of the team.

Also, you don’t know me. I support everyone on this team, including Stroud. But I also live in reality

I don't care who owns the team. That is not something I can control and who is Cary? Didn't know about any lawsuit and I simple don't care.

Is the owner in the way here? Did they waste $$$ on bad coaches. Wait, never mind, KICK THEM OUT!

Question, did anyone ever debate with you? You have your take and others have theirs.

Me, sunshine and daisies? That's great. Thanks for the complement. I don't want to waste my life on "facts", that, like statistics, can be used in such a way to make your point look great.

You support the team, that, is a given, if you didn't you wouldn't waste your time here. But here is the thing, your reality is based on the half empty glass notion that CJ is bad QB, cannot get better, will not get the job done. You are certain, he was a bad pick for the team, the Rookie of the year is anomaly, and now, he is showing his true nature. I must admit, CJ, did himself no favors with last year's Playoff play. With that said, I do hope you are wrong, but regardless, bottomline is the same. Just win.

If you can find one place I’ve said anything remotely close to that, since we’ve drafted CJ, you would be believable.
It’s hyperbolic takes like this that make it hard to take any of you seriously. You let emotion control your interpretation

I won't go deep into this, Cary McNair's Cal's brother and he's got a lawsuit going against Cal and the NFL. Buzbee is representing Cary.

Peace to you. And regardless how you feel, not feel, what you said or not said. In the end, we both want this team to win. I have taste routing for a team that won 5 Superbowls and it felt great. Yes, I did live in San Francisco, and no, I don't miss that place at all. And if and when this city finally gets a Superbowl winning NFL team, then let's all celebrate together. First things first, MVP for (CJ) kidding, most improved?? Or how about WAJ for DPOY. But that dude now playing for the Rams may have a say.

If CJ gets most improved, we win the chip. I’m here for it.
WAJ has a strong shot, but honestly the LA love for Garrett will be too strong to overcome.

You used to live in the Bay Area? Me too... Benicia, but I worked in Berkeley... I was a 49ers fan from 1980 until about 2005 (passing on Rogers for Alex Smith was the final straw for me personally)... I used to go to sports bars in Jacksonville and West Palm Beach with my #32 Texans jersey (32nd franchise!) and my 1994 49ers championship hat on. Difference conferences was my justification... lol

Jags fans broke the Texans flag off my car 2X and this was in early 2002 before we had even played a game yet.... all these flavors and they chose salty

Nobody moved goalposts.. YOU said a better season, didn’t know it had to be the same season. I AGREE, he has regressed, I AGREE those 2 playoff games were atrocious. But I don’t think anyone would have picked Darnold after ‘24 season over CJ stroud and where he was at that point in his career and where Sam was (except you and a couple others here who never liked stroud since we got him and only ate crow for about a week after he won OROY). The stats were similar, despite what you say, and a 1yr- 37mil contract is just not realistic for QBs who have done what stroud has. Sam only got it because he sucked so bad in NY.
And while the players around them might have been similar in ‘24, the fact still remains the OL was 26 here and 15 in Minnesota and the coaching was VASTLY superior on the offensive side for the Vikings than here.

Im trying to show where I agree and disagree in hopes that you can do the same, in a graceful discourse. But frustrating other posters with zero concessions while just blasting them as homers does not equal winning the argument.

You keep talking about Oline rankings, what rankings are you using?
The 24 Vikes Oline and Texans Oline gave up virtually the same pressure rates and sack rates.

Great, I actually went to UC Berkeley, Did leave before 2000 and like all good things, it ended. After the Montana/Young era. Downhill, but if I remember correctly, they managed to get back to the Superbowl and lost to KC, I think. They got there. I still have all the stuff from the championship years. But I live here in Houston now and getting to a Super Bowl for this city would be great.

Oh yeah... I left the Bay Area in 1995 to go back to Htown and then on to law school.

Cal was an interesting campus.... was the naked collective still there when you were a student? the nudist students who mostly hung out on Bancroft.

Also, most importantly, were you a Joe Montana guy or a Steve Young guy?

As someone who grew up in the Sugar Land / Missouri City area, a Super Bowl would just be incredible for Houstonians. My gosh, I can only imagine (RN).

On more upside / inspiring news, I promised my middle daughter a Texans jersey as part of her 13th bday gifts.... she almost cried. I then - as a PROUD papa - almost cried.

She is having a hard time choosing between battle red Nico or WAJ

I think this year comes down to whether we have a top 10 running game. CJ has been running for his life most of his career and it may have ruined him, but we won’t know until we can actually see him in a balanced offense that has been the stated goal for years. If we can win 1st down, we can win the Super Bowl. If we are still 2 yds and a cloud of mud, then our offense will still suck no matter how much our pass blocking improves. We should add another good rb for insurance even if it costs us a decent future pick.

I wasn't interest in any of the "stuff" going on there. Went to get a BS, got BS, now I am spewing BS. Montana with 4 wins of course! Steve was good, got his 1 and that makes him happy. As it should be, SB wins is the only measure of success for QB. Sure, Dan Marino was a great QB but no SB win so not in same league as Montana, Grady, Mahomes, etc. My opinion only.

I live in the Sugar Land area myself and have a 13-year-old too (boy).

I used to break TV watch the Texans, so I don't watch live anymore. I will hopefully have chance to watch them live in a Superbowl and watch them win one.

Wasn’t this what some here were hanging their hat on as a reason to pay him now?

Stroud has 2 games for the first time at home to start the season. The best way to get off to a fast start.

Or he can get booed out the stadium if he starts throwing picks.
