Lol, he's something like the #2 overall prospect in the country...there's a whole lot of programs where he'd be "the highest rated CB recruit ever"
Horns are also hard-in on flipping the #1 prospect, DL Jaylen Brewster, from Tech. Apparently the #9 prospect, WR Easton Royal, is getting big attention to flip his commitment to LSU
I wonder what % of recruits in this new NIL era actually make it from initial commitment to actual binding commitment to staying beyond their Freshman or Sophomore years when they are good. It seems hard to get excited about recruits when the odds that they'll contribute meaningfully to their first team seems relatively low.
For "upper tier" programs like UT when the player comes close to expectations, my wild guess is the retention rate is fairly high. But otherwise, guys will bolt in a heartbeat to get more playing time.
John Meredith was ruled ineligible for his senior year because he was ruled to have changed schools for athletic purposes. He has appealed the ruling and the UIL State Executive Committee will hear his case on Thursday. He’s item BB on the agenda. There are rumblings that he’s going to IMG Academy if he can’t play his senior year in Texas.
I haven't read much into this, but I don't see the problem since he was eligible to attend his new school via residence requirements. Not a big deal either way.
I’ve listened to a bunch of these hearings (mainly because I know the UIL AD and one of the assistant ADs) and let’s just say that the UIL can invent some reasons as to why it could be a problem. Last year they denied a pair of football-playing brothers who transferred to Willis from The Woodlands because the head coach at The Woodlands didn’t really like that they ended up at Willis. Dad had told him of their intention to move and asked if that would be an issue on the previous athletic participation form. Coach explicitly told him “it depends on where you go.”
Right, the committee that ruled him ineligible is comprised of the superintendents of the schools in the district he was transferring to (huge football district, includes Duncanville and other top programs)
