So is just about everything else. I guess when you cling to hope that your cult leader is making America more affordable you grasp at those short straws for anything to make you happy.
Donors who wanted to give money to America250 the official bipartisan commission Congress created back in 2016 to organize the country's 250th birthday were allegedly given incorrect wire and routing instructions, redirecting their donations instead to Freedom 250, a separate Trump-backed group created last October. Freedom 250 organizes the flashiest events: the UFC fight at the White House on Trump's birthday, the "Great American State Fair" on the National Mall, and tomorrow's July 4th fireworks show that opens with a Trump speech. The money trail gets worse. Congress allocated $150 million for 250th anniversary events. America250 was supposed to get $100 million of that. They've received $25 million so far. Meanwhile Freedom 250, the newer Trump-aligned group, has more funding and way more visibility. Rep. Jared Huffman (D-CA), who led the investigation: "I'm a lawyer, and I know better than to pronounce that a crime has been committed. But I do know the elements of fraud, and there is evidence of all those elements here." The report also alleges Freedom 250's CEO personally solicited foreign government officials for funding at Davos in January, despite receiving federal support and operating as a subsidiary of the National Park Foundation, which normally has to follow transparency rules a private LLC doesn't. Freedom 250's spokesperson called the report "a partisan smear from politicians who would rather manufacture division than celebrate America's 250th birthday." Huffman's closing line: "I'm old enough to remember the bicentennial in 1976. No one cared about party labels. Donald Trump stole that. He took this unifying moment and made it all about himself."
That line in itself is a joke. Nobody has stirred up division during these festivities more than Trump himself. He has turned what should be a huge celebration for all Americans into a platform to spew his attacks on anyone not wearing a MAGA hat. It's gross how he's made it all about him, using the stage to spew his latest propaganda and lies. Now the crazy old man is fear mongering with his red scare BS. There are 10 times more hate group members, white Nationalists, Neo-Nazis, and anti government extremist members than folks of any communist party in this country. There are no communists in State and Federal government but there sure as hell are plenty of government officials who have White Supremacists, KKK, and Neo-Nazis at their events, President included. Trump puts a big orange sh*t stain on the festivities. Sad, but it's just how he rolls.
He's convinced that he can get away with anything. Thanks to the gutless Republican majority in Congress and a "super majority" of highly partisan Supreme Court judges, he's untouched by what should be impeachment and prison time for his blatant corruption. trump makes Nixon look like a choir boy.
No joke there. Even Nixon admitted wrongdoing. You will never hear words like this coming out of Trump's mouth... "I was wrong in not acting more decisively and more forthrightly in dealing with Watergate... No words can describe the depth of my regret and pain at the anguish my mistakes over Watergate have caused the nation and the presidency..." Never! Trump is not only incapable of telling the truth, he is incapable of expressing regrets or wrongdoing, and certainly incapable of apologizing for his mistakes or harm caused because of his actions. Deny, lie, and shift the blame are his answers for everything.
