All that Bruce Thornton has to be is a league average backup PG. If he can clear that hurdle, he becomes a great SRP.
Man Rockets passed on some names for this scrub. Richie Saunders? Isiah Evans? Meleek Thomas? .....Trevon Brazile?, just to name a few for this midget scrub? Another wasted pick.
The thing about projection is that if he look like he can be an all-star, he will likely just be a starter or good bench player. But if he looks like he can be a backup, then he is most likely out of the league in a couple of years.
I feel silly saying this before I've seen him play as a pro; however, I've been excited ever since the Rockets made this pick, and in all my years as a Rocket fan, I've never been excited about a second-round pick. I appreciate Bruce's leadership ability and high basketball IQ. I believe his floor is a productive player off the bench, but he can start in the future, just as FVV can. The last four years of Tari's low IQ and last year's lack of leadership from KD have made me appreciate what Bruce will bring to the team besides scoring. I'm looking forward to summer league to see if he lives up to my expectations.
I hope he has a strong character and can weather the negative energy that seems to have accumulated on this team due to Durant.
