Dude, you have to drop the .39 v. .4 thing. You sound dumb. Steph shot .39 last season - I guess he’s not elite?

There are only a handful of guys who shot .39 on 7+ 3pa per game last season. Kon was the only other player under 25 years old to do it.

What a comical claim with no basis in reality.

Jimmer never had as good a season as Reed had last year in his entire time in the NBA.

    Unserious comment.

Lol is someone really nitpicking over 39% vs 40% from 3?

    I hope not.

This team needs to upgrade the PG spot. Sure he keeps the turnovers down and plays decent defense but having a dude who shoots a career .401 from the floor and .378 the last year he played and isn't a table setter isn't gonna cut it.
If all he brings is protecting the ball and playing decent defense that's not setting the bar very high - it's the point guards main job to protect the ball and get the team into it's sets.

Shooting wise, those numbers place him at the very bottom of starting point guards, not just bottom 5 as @Hemingway claimed earlier in the thread.

Stone needs to turn that contract into something better .... not let it expire or extend him after the season.

longterm partnership for what? What does a post injury Fred provide for this team? Pre-injury Fred provided one good yr for $90 mil. Post injury Fred is unlikely to provide one good yr for $50 mil. For it to be a partnership both sides have to have value. The dreamcasting around Fred’s value as a basketball player is nuts.

The whole PG’s have to get the team into it’s their set is amusing to me. This is not football. If these grown man can’t find where they are supposed to be on the court after hours and hours of practice, then they are absolute children level IQ. This coach is calling out the sets every time whoever is bringing up the ball outside of transition plays. Holding up your finger for the play calls is not getting anyone in their sets. It’s pretty much a justification to say an old and slow pg that can’t get into the lane is a plus asset. My junior high team could get into their sets when a number was called out. It’s just such a bs argument.

Unfortunately yes…I specifically avoided that one. On a somewhat related note, I think Amen’s closest comparisons is…..Ben Simmons….

If you can't figure it out after watching Point KD struggle all season then I don't know what to tell you and make no mistake about it, KD is still a great player - he's just not a point guard and neither is Amen or Reed.
It's not just calling the play, it's actually executing it and handling the pressure the opponent throws at you. Amen couldn't do either and Reed couldn't handle the heat. That's why Ime put Amen back in the corner, Reed back to the bench behind Tari at the SG spot and forced KD into the point role that he didn't want.

I said all year long that this roster lacked a single player with the point guard skillset, that's why a .401 career shooter has a job - it's important and not a whole hell of a lot of dudes can do it.

I've wanted FVV gone for 3 years .... still want him gone, but I want a point guard upgrade in the process.

The Korver or Reddick comps are really strange. There's a reason Reed isn't comparable to those players but its almost like his detractors dont seem to want to acknowledge them or believe they exist.

If we just stopped Reed from shooting logo 3s then he wouldve been in the "rare 40% club" and he'd be....elite? Why doesnt Udoka tell him that? Is he stupid?

Stone needs to try his best to send FVV out now along with protected 2027 picks for Trey III or Dejounte Murray.

Edit: Forget about Trey, unless KD is involved.
Suns pick plus FVV and Capela for Murray.

The problem with Reed is consistency. His 3pt average is very good, nearing elite, but he has really bad games. Adding 10lbs of muscle would really help his consistency over a long season. And frankly, having a consistent role would help as well, but Ime won't provided that.

FVV, HOU 28 + 30’ swap for Dejounte Murray

Sign LeBron & Demar. I’d sign Westbrook too for the f*ck of it

    Murray / Smart / Reed
    Lebron / Amen / Reed
    KD / Demar
    Bari / Tari
    Sengun / Adams / Capella

I disagree on Amen not being a PG. He didn’t get a chance to be. He did fine in all the things you say you want a pg to be. I’m not sure he turned the ball over a single time bringing it up to the half-court. He executed getting them into their sets. Unfortunately, Ime’s set was to hand the ball to Sengun or KD (that’s not his fault). Whenever he was actually allowed to control the action he did it quite well getting into the lane at will and leading the team in expected assists. Even actual assists were the same as FVV the year before without anywhere near the usage. I truly believe if Ime would’ve stuck with his original plan to make Amen the full-time pg, this conversation wouldn’t be occurring. The only thing holding Amen back from being a star Pg is a decent jumper (it doesn’t even have to be a 3 pt shot). I’ll leave it at that, since we can argue this for an eternity and neither of us will change our minds.
