YES! We need to re-furnish our 2nd round picks to get rid of FVV!

Would’ve rather held onto him (and the 2nd rounders) until the trade deadline and then got under the cap or had the financial matching flexibility for a big trade. Doing this now, almost a full calendar year before tax is assessed at the end of the season, is confusing unless another move is coming.

actually even as a pure tax move I like this better than originally thought. We don’t want to be in the repeater tax if we are not contending. But this is a huge indictment of last offseason’s moves. The DFS signing cost us our mle and three 2nd rounders…for no production. Ouch.

If they use the TPE, and use it wisely....okay.

If Tilman is willing to spend, he wouldn’t have made this trade. DFS is an expiring contract. I don’t care how awful he is, you keep him. Tilman is cheap. Stone is clueless!

Impossible to judge this move until everything else plays out. We can for sure say signing him was an epic fail.

Second round picks don't mean much, they get moved around all the time.

Wow, this is quite an indictment when you consider that the one thing Stone is supposed to be good at is being patient.

Another off-season where Stone has to give up assets to get off a bad deal, as is tradition.

SRPs typically are bought on draft days in which it is apparent guys ready to at least be on the deep bench are gone. The guys available are projects at best.

SRPs are useful in trades for touching or picking up guys for the deep bench. Buying them on draft day does not help for trades unless willing to have a non-NBA guy ride the pine.

These SRPs likely suck, but always a chance they end up being better than SRPs that can be bought. For instance, the picks acquired for Cam Whitmore were actually desired and a team was willing to trade the 31st pick for them.

I don’t recall Morey making a signing as bad as this, honestly.

Everyone knows @BimaThug loves second round picks. Can't fault him for being upset about trading his favorites.

For real though... Does this make the Non-tax MLE available opening up 9m (minus the Smart deal) to spend on additional players?
