So is this good or bad for us in terms of how much we have to sign someone else?

So we had to spend 3 2nd round picks to erase the mistake that was DFS.

Can someone help me understand how many 2nd round picks we have remaining in the near future?

With the new CBA, those 2nd round picks are becoming more valuable. It seems like Stone just wastes them.

People are misunderstanding. This is a pure salary dump to get us out of the luxury tax altogether, and we paid a lot to do it now. It puts us a few dollars under the tax line if we fill out the roster with minimums and Tari's extension uses the normal ascending structure.

It is strongly suggestive there are no further moves coming that would add salary. We are not literally "hard capped", but clearly the org really really wants to be out of the tax, so I would assume we operate as though the tax line is a hard cap (although they would not say this out loud).

Forget about aprons this season. They don't matter if you're not paying the tax at all.

Every year they are so active in collecting second round picks, but then they just throw them all away to get rid of their bad signings and end up losing more 2nd round picks. How many times has it happened?

1 SRP left over the next seven years? Yikes, but it's not like our scouting department is any good at finding late-round gems, so meh

DFS sucked and I hated him as a Rocket but this may be a move to purely to save Tilman money. I don't expect this to be a move that will setup another move to make this team better. I might actually prefer if we kept his contract to aggregate in a bigger trade.

How can people still support Stone and Tilman? I genuinely don't understand it.

Now I understand why Stone didn’t go after Ayo Dosunmu who was traded for 4 second round picks last year. Because these second round picks are saved for this blockbuster trade! Stone is a genius!

I’m gonna be in the minority. I think giving up three 2nd rounders to get off an expiring contract is a bad idea. I guess it all depends what we do with the trade exception. So got to grade as incomplete for now.
